horoscope says: "This is going to be a strange, significant day. Make the most of it!"

Do you ever take stock in astrology, Lucetians? Ever look up at that sky and wonder if Mars is in the fifth house, and what that means for your love life?

Well, wonder no more. Because our event for this month is going to be all about horoscopes!

I can hear you asking, but Emily, whatever does that mean? Pipe down, Imma tell you.

The basic idea is this. Starting 12:01 AM of the 25th (EST), the very first page of characters' journals will contain a horoscope for the week. This horoscope is, of course, based on each character's birth month (and date, depending on where that might place you in regards to a given astrological sign). To illustrate how this will work, I'll provide an example using one of my own characters.

Xion's birthday, in Luceti, is in late November. By Luceti's calendar, then, she is a Scorpio. Accordingly, the first page of her journal would display a Scorpio horoscope.

However, what if your character has no determined month of birth in Luceti? What if they don't have one back home? What if they do have one back home, and it doesn't translate to Luceti's calendar?

In that case, we leave it up to you to pick. Say I don't want a Scorpio horoscope for Xion. While her birthday in Luceti may fall in November, because the day and month of her "birth" were never given back home, I could choose any month I liked - say, April. The logic behind this is: the character is REALLY born in April, even if their birthday lands in November in Luceti due to calendar weirdness. I'm now free to use an Aries horoscope instead.

Still feeling a little boxed in, having to choose between given months? Don't worry, we've got even more variety for you.

How? Well, here's your horoscope generator.

You'll notice that each horoscope you generate will give you about four separate predictions. We'll let you mix and match up to four predictions per sign! You may generate as many predictions as you like for your sign, as long as you only end up using four. (And please try to use only ones for your chosen sign. Obviously we can't enforce that, but it'd at least keep up the illusion of sign consistency!)

If you're like me and you're having a little trouble reading the symbols, then reading the generator in a clockwise fashion, starting from 12, the symbols go thusly:

Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius

(This might be of assistance if you need to know which days fall within which signs!)

The horoscope you generate for your character will then end up influencing their week! Just how strongly -- or how literally -- this influence works is up to all of you. Have fun with it, be creative!

If you're having trouble interpreting some predictions, take this as an example. Say you get "'Give up on your dream of being a master debater.'" You could interpret that as "Your character no longer craves conflict. In fact, in any argument or discussion, they will defer to the wisdom of everyone else." No matter how wrong they are! If you're still getting predictions you don't know what to do with, you're always free to keep generating new ones until you get ones you like.

TL;DR SUMMARY: Choose your month, generate your horoscope of four predictions, and let your characters go through the horrible effects as the week progresses. Easy!

However, you may only generate ONE horoscope per character! Since we are letting you mix and match predictions as you please to build your horoscope, we'd prefer it if you only chose one horoscope for the week and stuck to it. You can, of course, choose to start it late or end it early. This event is also one you can easily opt out of if you choose! If you opt out, your character simply will not have a horoscope on the first page of their journal and will not be affected by any astrological shenanigans.

Again, this event will start on 12:01 AM the 25th and run through 11:59 PM of the 30th (EST).

Have at!
