MURAL MADNESS, MUTHAFREAKAHZ.

Nov 22, 2011 03:15

Who: Anyone who wants to get in on some hot n' steamy painting action.
What: Village-wide art therapy.
When: Forward-dated to 11/25, and runs until 11/27.
Where: Between the Welcome Center and Azzip.
Summary: Paint with all the colors of the wind! Or at least with whatever colors Pao-lin managed to procure.
Rating: M for MURAL

An early riser by habit, Pao-lin's up even earlier than usual during this weekend, too excited about this project to really sleep even after a hefty Thanksgiving dinner. Once she's gotten herself refreshed and presentable, she sets out for the Welcome Center, where the supplies for the event are waiting, having been stockpiled there over the last week or two. There's a wide variety of colors and paintbrushes to choose from, as well as a couple of smocks and aprons in case someone's not appropriately attired for painting. Also included are empty paint cans and jars of water to wash brushes in and basic cleaning supplies.

The actual wall for the mural, raised by one (1) Toph Bei Fong, stands about eight feet tall and spans a good chunk of the open space between the Welcome Center and Azzip. Toph's also raised a stone shelter around the mural to keep out most of the cold, so people can paint without worrying about freezing their fingers off (though they should still dress warmly regardless!). Tables are lined up against two of the walls, with one wall featuring all the art supplies and the other wall featuring all kinds of nomlicious edibanibbles. (Those are totally real words, shut up.)

ITINERARY SOMETHING-OR-OTHER

FRIDAY: And so it begins! Pao-lin will be working with the more experienced artists to transfer the outlines of the design to the wall from a grid she created on paper. Afterwards, she'll enlist the help of other people to lay down the basic flat colors.

SATURDAY: With the main colors done, it's time to refine things a little and really bring the design to life. This is, once again, meant to be the domain of those who are comfortable with their artistic skills, but even if you're not you're free to try anyway! Pao-lin will be more than happy to give tips and advice to anyone who needs them.

SUNDAY: It's a painting party! By this time, most if not all of the pre-planned design will be finished, and the mural will be open for original contributions. Its brilliant shades transform an ordinary slab of stone into a permanent wall of psychedelic sunlight, and its painted patchwork of original contributions from other people celebrate the diversity of the worlds represented in Luceti. Pao-lin may have been the one to do the design and organize the happenings, but the mural really belongs to everyone who lives here.

Really, this entire event is going to be so disgustingly happy that you're probably going to end up vomiting sparkly rainbows by the end of it.

Tag one day, two days, or all of the days! Backtag like a boss, threadjack like a three-ring circus, prose it up or action tag your way to victory, and know that anything you say or do can and may be immortalized in a pencil sketch later, 'cause I can.
