Let me tell you about a simple day in my own way

May 04, 2011 13:01

Who: slaying and lists_to_port
What: Escape
When: May 1st-May 3rd for the entire trip; action in this log will take place on the 3rd.
Where: The Edge of the Ocean
Summary: A fragile and strange relationship gets more fragile and strange after the AU, and Jack's solution for them both is to run away, of course.
Rating: R just in case but I honestly don't know

Jack Sparrow had reached a point where the chilly ocean water did not bother him much anymore. That was because he had made many, many swims out to the point where his still-unnamed boat was moored, and each time he hauled himself shivering onto the deck, he knew that it would be useless. The death penalty would still be in place, and he would have to dive off the side again and feel the water close over him and swim right back to shore and recover until he could do it all over again.

Jack couldn't resist trying, though, not after a solid year of boat-building and hope. There was always the off-chance that the DP would be magically gone (even though he knew that wasn't how things worked around here), and that he could unleash her from her mooring and take off as far as the barrier would let him. He was an off-chance sort of pirate, was Jack Sparrow. Of course, so much attention paid to the boat meant that his focus was only marginally on Buffy and that was helpful too, because he didn't know quite what to do with her in the state she'd been left after the strange experiment. Everything seemed so close to the surface yet kept tightly in check with that woman--dangerous, waiting to snare him or to blow him to pieces.

So now he stood on the deck of the boat, clutching tightly to one of the lines and willing his legs to work properly.
