A Defender's Proposal [Locked to Residents]

I am transmitting this message to the people of Luceti over what I am told is a secure network. I am Kurtis, the 38th Defender of Earth. The purpose of this message is two proposals ( Read more... )

I can't say I'm too knowledgeable about distress signals, but the first plan definitely sounds good to me. One of the major problems, though, is finding out when and where the barrier might open. Going all the way to the edge of the barrier on the desert side on foot could take four to five days alone. Sending scouting parties out there while it's still sealed up is inhuman, but without seeing it with our own eyes we won't know when the barrier does open, unless it disappears completely.

That is a big problem. I had considered posting lookouts, but it would be impossible to cover the entire barrier, or to keep a steady stream of supplies to those posted in the desert. Periodic checks would be good for viewing the overall status of the barrier, but if a small section opens, it will likely close again before we even know. [A sigh] If only we had cameras.

A device the records images, much like these journals. We could use the journals, but the Malnosso would likely prevent that. [A pause] I believe we could react quickly enough, if we could detect immediately when the barrier changed. We need some way to monitor it. Perhaps a sonar-like device...

But if we use a device, couldn't the Malnosso just tamper with it either way? I wouldn't put it past them to sabotage our every attempt to keep a close eye on the barrier.

I wonder if Raenef can teleport that far...

You're right, it would immediately be found.

Teleportation! That's excellent. He would not be able to check the entire circumference at one time, I'm sure, but if we set up a few areas for him to teleport to each day it would greatly improve our chances. Of course, that depends on how far and how many times he can teleport, and on whether he would be willing to.

I'll have to ask him. His teleportation wasn't an easy skill to handle from what I could tell, and I'm not sure if he's been working on improving it. It'd be great if he could help us out with that, though!

You're Vyse? I am glad to finally meet you. Adell tells me that the Blue Rogues have done much to protect the village.

We've done a few things in the past, but not enough. There's still a few killers on the loose, out there.

If you need another hand, I would certainly be glad to offer my assistance.

Of course! More helping hands are always welcome. Do you have any other specialties aside from coming up with plans like that?

I am one of Earth's top cyberneticists. I can perform surgery, but mostly to attach cybernetic parts to humans, there are likely others more qualified for other types of surgeries. I can also repair robots and cybernetic parts. I can fight as well.

What are cybernetic parts, exactly?

[Hmm... how to explain]

They are machines that are attached to living things and become part of their body. For example, if a man loses an arm, I could replace it with a mechanical one which is stronger and more dexterous than the original. Of course, it would require a sterile environment and some very complicated equipment.
