Hey look it's a meme!

     The Common Knowledge Meme
While Luceti might seem pretty big, for a village, it's actually rather small. Naturally, there are a lot of characters out there who've probably never threaded before, but should realistically know each other. And since it'd be impossible to thread out every second of every day, here's something that might make ( Read more... )

Average Day/Week?

--If your character frequents Good Spirits, they...will probably have noticed Jack Sparrow. He's there A LOT.

--He can occasionally be found in the library, where he will either be in the Self Help section (he loves helping himself) or poring over the copy of the Pirata Codex, which is located there. Other characters will NOT be able to read the codex because it is locked. Jilly Coppercorn has the key.

--Jack has to trek supplies out to Cullen House every week, so he can be frequently found in the village shops.

--Cloud Nine is a place he goes when Archie Kennedy decides he is bored and calls Jack over the journals and asks him to come by.

--Any character who frequents the barracks or the beach has probably run into him. Jack lives quite close to where the transporter lets people off at the shore--a stone's throw from the fort.

Things your character might notice right away by looking at Jack Sparrow:

--They will probably notice that Jack most of the time is dressed like a pirate: hat, belts, coat, sword, sash, bandanna, breeches, boots. He doesn't always dress like this, though: he has adapted pretty well to more modern attire. He loves denim, for example, so he wears jeans at times, and sometimes Buffy will throw a more modern outfit on him.

--Characters should not assume that Jack constantly stinks to high heaven. In canon, the only time he truly reeks horribly is when he breathes on Will Turner to send him falling overboard. That was premeditated, planned-out reekage. In general, Jack has better hygiene than a typical sailor of his time because he knows how to swim. So yeah, he definitely smells when compared to your average deodorant-wearing 21st century American, but Elizabeth's bratty line in Dead Man's Chest too often ends up summing up the entire character and it at times gets taken too far in the game. It would actually be OOC for Jack to smell horrible if it does not buy him any advantage. In AWE and OST his hygiene is not referenced at all. In OST, he is one of the cleaner pirates onscreen and comments on how badly Blackbeard's crew smells. SO. Yeah. Sorry for the tldr, but sometimes his smell gets weirdly godmoded.

--In Luceti, Jack's hygiene is improved by the fact that there is access to running hot water, something he did not have at home. Of course, at Cullen House there is no electricity and no hot water. He is definitely not fanatical about cleanliness, but he does his laundry and bathes with at least some weekly regularly, more if Buffy tosses him in the tub.

--He IS a cleanliness fanatic when it comes to the state of his home and his ship. Close CR already knows this, but if anyone breaks into his home or boat, it's super-tidy. Don't be fooled by his relaxed appearance: Jack is Type A when it comes to keeping a clean shipshape living environment.

---Behaviors that characters might notice include a rather interesting flouncy swagger. Jack often looks drunk when he's walking, even if he's not drunk. His hair is dreaded and long and has blond streaks in it, as well as beads and ornaments. He has an x-shaped scar by his right eye and, if any character catches a glimpse of his bare back, a tattoo of the poem Desiderata covering his skin.

Small facts that might come up? Jack is dating Buffy Summers and can often be found at House 7. He captained the Elizabeth during the sea draft and captains the Joanna Joyce in Luceti. He frequently marauds Luceti's honest citizens. He has an enjoyment of rum and loves to drink with his friends at Good Spirits. He occasionally enjoys a little wager for fun and profit.

Fun Fact! Right now, due to some game developments, Jack is HIGHLY NERVOUS near small children! So if you play a small child, do not be surprised if he is stand-offish, afraid, nervous, ill, etc. around them.

--He's been in contact with Kipinn to learn the wind-based magic.

--The list of characters whom Jack has drugged with his hallucinogenic salamanders is growing. WHO ELSE WILL FALL VICTIM?

Skating rink! With the help of a group of other characters, Jack has headed up efforts to make a skating rink behind C2. A SKATING LOG FOR ALL WILL GO UP FAIRLY SOON! It should be fun!

One wonders: is the Pirata Codex openable with a judiciously and expertly applied lockpick?

Yup! Especially if the character is a thieving type.

If she gets to page 112, let me know.

LMAO I shall clearly have to have her find this book and do just that.

OH DEAR NAMI. The book as you will recall from the films is REALLY HUGE. It is a dire black leather-covered thing that can take two men to lift. FINDING it in the library might be tricky if one does not know it is there: Jack mostly keeps it under a dusty corner table with other books that usually are ignored by everyone. It lurks there.

The Codex contains, obviously, the Pirate's Code, but also includes some histories of the Brethren and their politics, as well as some of the most notable pirate lore.

Hmm yes, I think it'll be a while before she finds it. I'll keep a note though, should it ever come up. |D It's probably more likely Robin will find it and ask her resident thief to open it for her, come to think of it.

Oh yes, I can definitely see Robin finding it. I CANNOT REMEMBER---Robin's mun might---if he has already mentioned the Codex to her. I know that the old Robin used to read it with him.

...So I realized a while back that the Maurauding Bridge is extremely close to Grune's home, House 34. And she tends to hang around there, because the river is pretty. Whoops!

FIGMENT.

Being that Jack is not NEARLY as crazy as he was when he and Grune first met, he probably won't even run away from her! He might even have NICE CONVERSATIONS with her now!

GASP! SHOCK! Is there hope for this friendship yet??

...Giles will be so happy if Grune starts chattering to him about Jack. :D

XD It's a love-hate relationship? ...Tolerate-hate relationship?

With Giles, I would hesitate to put any number of hyphenated labels on it.

With Grune? Definitely not hate. Just...uneasiness, layered over the acknowledgment that she is KIND to him and that he should just relax and pretend as though he isn't uneasy around her.

I was intending Giles, but it's interesting to see Jack's thoughts on Grune, too. The amount she doesn't get him and his uneasiness is pretty incredible. XD;

PIRATE CONSCIENCE.

That is pretty much all. I still think it'd be hilarious if Jack accidentally had some sort of random influence on Glitch's decision making process.
