Home Sweet Home - Hollow Bastion to Fabled Countryside [COMPLETE]

Oct 26, 2005 17:31

At the prospect of finally returning to his own castle, Adam was practically galloping down the hallways of Hollow Bastion to get to the gummi docks. Having already caused plenty of scenes, he resigned himself to a brisk walk. For the first time in months, his heart felt lighter. Even if he and Belle only took a couple weeks for themselves, it ( Read more... )

Belle had to convince herself not to bring half the library home with her. This was a trip to relax, after all. She contented herself with leaving very detailed notes for Timofei, one of her chief assistants. She hoped he'd be able to get everything done by the time she was back ( ... )

Adam couldn't contain his excitement and a fanged grin bubbled out of his mouth when he saw his wife approach. Relaxation was too hard to come by during wartime, especially with Belle being heavily involved, so this break was going to be fully relished.

Adam gave her a most definite nod and a happy "yes" when she asked if he was ready. He had been plenty ready ever since they stepped foot on Hallow Bastion. It was time to head away from this foreign territory and back to his own.

He stepped aside to allow her access to the ship first. If he had been any less of a gentleman, he might have run past her to get a head start. Of course, this was his wife. He didn't need to end up in the doghouse as soon as they returned. With absolutely no pun intended.

Belle curtsied to her husband before climbing aboard their vessel.

"Always the gentleman," she smiled, then climbed aboard. She took a moment to stow her bag before taking a seat. She snuck a look over her shoulder to see just how quickly Adam followed her through the hatch. His excitement as she'd passed by him had been enough to cause an electric charge in the air.

Though his hulking form was less than graceful, Adam managed to keep from tripping on Belle's heels as he followed her on board. Within the next few moments he was seated and the ship was brought to life. Coordinates were set and they were well on their way towards home.

Adam placed his hand on Belle's and spoke his feelings aloud, "I'm so happy that we're going home." His eyes remained ahead though, anxious as he was, waiting to see their world come into view.

"I need to find everyone," Adam said, his eyes fixed in the direction of the castle. His voice and body were terribly tense, as he tried to think of what to do. Belle was here. He was certain things were far too dangerous here; he felt it with every fibre of his being.

He finally looked at his wife, who stood next to him with fear blatant on her face. His next words, he knew, were going to be met with difficulty. This was her home as well, and she was as stubborn as he was, but he didn't see any other choice. He had to do this alone.

"You shouldn't be here."

His tone was blunt and deadly serious. Losing her wasn't an option.

The shock of realization past, Belle forced down her fear, and a determined look appeared in her eyes. This was home. Last time it fell to Darkness, Adam had escaped. This time... No, she wouldn't accept that. If they were going down, they'd go down together.

"Adam, I asked what we can do. Remember how the Princesses protected Hollow Bastion? Well, there must be some way I can defend our home."

"This isn't an argument, Belle!" Adam's voice raised. Fear was building up inside him, crowding any semblance of niceties. Who knew where everyone was? They could be in hiding, or fighting... or worse. Lumiere, Cogsworth, everyone. He only hoped that Maurice was in the castle as well. If things were as bad outside their ship as he felt, there was little time. He wasn't sure what he could do, but the overpowering need to protect his home and his territory overrode anything else. He was the master of this place, of these people. He wouldn't abandon them. But Belle... She was already in the ship... a few mere moments away from safety ( ... )

The sight of the strange glowing eyes outside took her back to that night in the forest, and for a flicker her fear resurfaced. Again she forced it down as she listened to her husband's command. She'd never seen him so feral, even when he'd fought off those wolves so long ago. He truly was an animal defending his territory. Belle knew he was right, and that argument was futile and a waste of valuable time.

"If I go, it will only be to bring back help. I'm not going to leave you here alone." Belle locked eyes with Adam.

"I won't lose you, either."
