Rikku sat there in silence, she had told her father about her dream to leave the island. She sat uncomfortably staring at the wooden floor of her tiny hut, never before had Rikku been so embarassed about wanting to leave the island. Brother had already left the room, Rikku wasn't sure if he believed her since he left the room laughing. Now it was just her and Cid. Sitting there. In silence.
"Come on Pop," Rikku finally said breaking the silence, "don't do this to me. You know I can't stand silence." She looked up at her father and smiled. She wrinkled her nose and made her smile so wide she couldn't keep her eyes open. Usually Cid couldn't resist such adorable behavior from his only daughter but tonight was different. Tonight, he just sat there. Stone faced. "You can't honestly be suprised about this Pop. You know I'm not meant for such a conventional life, and I don't know why you can't be as accepting as uncle Brask-" She stopped herself. She had compared her father to her uncle Braska and now she knew she was in for it.
