A change of scenery [Traverse Town; open to Dante]

Sep 11, 2006 15:44

It didn't take much for Larxene to leave Hollow Bastion, both in terms of physical effort and motivation. She merely opened a "hole in space," as she thought of it, (an ability she discovered by accident some time ago) and stepped through. Why did she leave? She merely had  no reason to stay. Nor did she have a specific destination in mind. Instead ( Read more... )

dante sparda, larxene

The sound of gunfire could be heard coming from the closest alley, bullets riddling the heartless that Larxene had allowed to escape. Guns weren't a replacement for that idiotic-looking key sword apparently, but they did the trick.

Dante Sparda strolled out of the darkness himself, grinning as he spun the twin pistols expertly before slipping them back into their respective sheaths. Ebony and Ivory... The girls hadn't failed him yet, as he'd been making it a point to dispose of any of the Heartless that he happened upon. Little bastards just didn't rub him the right way, and he fought demons for a living. Or something almost close to a living, if he'd ever be able to make it back home.

A fanged grin was tossed in the blonde woman's direction moments later, as though the half-devil had just noticed her standing there. He was just about sick of the plethora of guys humping each other in Traverse Town, so the sight of a woman? A real woman? Oh, Dante wasn't going to let this opportunity pass by. Apparently, Traverse could at least be known for its cute blondes.

"Hey, babe," he called casually as he sauntered over to her, hands now shoved in his pockets. "You new here too? And here I was thinking that women were an endangered species around this shithole." The greeting seemed incredibly laid-back and fairly out of place considering he'd just blown those two creatures to shit just a few seconds ago. But that was just part of Dante's charm.

Or something.

Larxene watched with a look of mild amusement as Dante emerged from the shadows with two smoking guns. Well he was a regular cowboy, now wasn't he? He certainly had the audacity of one. However, Larxene wasn't bothered by his macho approach; she wasn't easily upset unless she wanted to be. In fact, his self-assuredness was cute in a pathetic kind of way.

"I'm new everywhere, cowboy," she replied, shifting her weight on to one leg so her hip jutted out ever-so-subtly. She raised her chin just enough to give the impression she was looking down her nose on Dante, despite the fact she was much shorter than him. "And women like me are an endangered species everywhere."

Okay, so that hair was a little weird. She was still pretty smoking, and even better? She seemed to know what she was doing, just from that look she was giving him. Not that he usually ended up getting along with stuck up bitches, but they were usually fun enough in their own right.

"That so?" Dante mused with an arched eyebrow, bringing his fingers up to his chin, clearly giving her the Once-Over. "Got a name, babe?" Not that it really mattered. He'd probably just refer to her as 'babe' regardless of her wishes.

A name? No, she merely had something that someone had referred to her as. But it was all she had, despite the fact she was now hell-bent on destroying said someone. Still, Larxene didn't want to bother Dante with all the petty little details. He probably wouldn't be able to understand, anyway, she thought with a smirk. "Of sorts, yes," she replied, batting her eyes once, lazily; a slow-motion blink. However, she didn't elaborate on the subject - after all, he'd only asked if she had a name, not what it was.

"How about you, cowboy? I hear names are all the rage these days." Not that it really mattered. She'd probably just refer to him as "cowboy," regardless of his wishes.

Touché.

Dante laughed, obviously thoroughly amused by the woman's attitude. The whole hitting on her idea was swiftly dying on him, as the chick was already starting to remind him of Vergil. With tits, of course. The white-haired devil shuddered at that thought, promptly blocking it from his mind entirely.

"If that's how you want to play, you can call me Dante, sweetheart," he finally replied, raising an eyebrow at her. "You gonna tell me yours or just leave me hear on the edge of my seat?"

"Larxene," came the reply, the Nobody having decided to play nice for a little bit. She lowered her chin and gave Dante a more straight-on look. She smiled, sickly-sweet, her lips tight with a hint of restrained malice.

Okay, enough playing nice. It was boring. "I hear the Heartless prey on weak hearts," she said conversationally, shifting her weight to her other leg. "Were they after you, then?" Oh, she could tell just by looking at Dante that he defintitely wasn't weak-hearted. But it was so much fun to take jabs at men's sense of strength and masculinity. They were so insecure about it, in general, though Larxene had no idea why.

Larxene? Dante made a face, though he somehow refrained from asking her what kind of name that was. He generally didn't have much of a right to call anybody else's name strange, what with the being named after an Italian guy who wrote an epic poem about his journey through multiple layers of Hell and all that, but Larxene? Sounded more like a demon's name than anything. He was momentarily suspicious before recognizing that her scent was hardly that of a devil. In fact she hardly smelled like anything at all.

Of course he played dumb. Dante was rather good at the act considering, so he just smirked at her and shrugged.

"Please," he scoffed with a roll of his eyes. "If their master couldn't off me, those little bastards sure as hell don't have much of a chance. Then again, I doubt they'd be interested in my heart anyway."

Mmmmm, wasn't he Mr. Mysterious? Larxene wanted to learn a little more - not because he actually intrigued her, but because she liked to pry information from people, one way or the other. It provided entertainment in an otherwise (nearly) meaningless existence. Which reminded her... she'd have to ask him if he'd heard of Axel sometime. His punk-ass attitude seemed to be the kind that would get along with Axel perfectly. Then again, Larxene's opinions were a little biased.

Nevertheless, Larxene filed away the idea for later, along with the remark about the Heartless's master. Instead, she decided to focus on the second half of Dante's statement. "And why wouldn't the Heartless want a sweet, gentle heart like yours?" she asked playfully, bringing her fist up to her chin in a charicature of the "thoughtful" pose.

Dante snorted at that. She was playing the game well, and, luckily for her, she wasn't asking for anything that he particularly minded giving her. He grinned wider, hoping to not-so-subtly reveal the fangs that marked him as anything but exactly human.

"Cause it ain't as sweet and gentle as you might think from looking at me," the half-demon almost purred, batting his eyes in an absurd fashion before he leaned back and chuckled. "Come on, babe. I'm sure you ain't that dim. They didn't seem to be bothering you too much either, from what I saw." If only Vergil were here, he'd have been able to see Dante actually using the sharp wits Mom had always said he'd been gifted with somewhere deep, down inside. She didn't smell just like a demon, but the Heartless hadn't bothered with her.

Something was fishy.

"Well, you're quite the bright one yourself," Larxene replied, returning the grin - sans fangs, of course. She wasn't fazed by Dante's apparent inhumanity; she'd seen much weirder during her travels, like talking animals and shit like that. It was true, though - the Heartless did leave her alone. Most of the time they did, though she couldn't explain why. Maybe whatever it was they were always searching for (hearts, she supposed) Larxene didn't have. Or it wasn't the kind they liked. Who knew? It's not like she cared.

Larxene pivoted slightly on her heel, just enough to highlight the subtle curve of her breast beneath her clothing. "I don't have nice pearly whites like you do, though," she said. "What makes me special is a little harder to... show off. Especially in public."

Ah yes, this was a very fun game indeed.

"Well, if you wanna go somewhere more private..." Dante's voice trailed off suggestively. His eyes drifted only briefly to the curves she was trying to accentuate with the shift. What could he say? He just happened to be a really observant guy, and maybe, just maybe, this one wouldn't slap him because of it.

"These babies aren't the only things that make me special, you know."

He was looking for the slap at this point. Totally looking for it.

Larxene was less inclined to slap Dante than laugh at him. He really was too much fun to play with. This was the most she'd enjoyed herself in a long time, as much as she could "enjoy" herself in the first place. She definitely wanted to draw this out for all it was worth - or at least until she got bored of it.

"That's a very tempting offer, cowboy," she said, smiling alluringly. However, she made no move towards him; he'd have to come to her. Maybe once she'd gotten more... familiar with him, she could ask about that remark he'd made about the Heartless' leader. And whether he'd seen anyone resembling Axel, of course. And if, on the off chance, he didn't want to enlighten her... well, that's what her kunai were for.

No slap? Dante blinked twice but offered no other sign that he was surprised by that turn of events. Yeah, there was certainly something about this broad, as though he hadn't been sure of that much already.

With a sly grin, Dante leaned in closer, almost just out of sheer curiosity regarding what she'd do next.

"So. You gonna show me what makes you special or not?" he pushed.

Show you? Larxene quirked an eyebrow and smirked, suddenly struck with a marvellous idea. "I'll show you all right, cowboy," she replied, luxuriously stretching one hand above her head. Her gaze never left Dante as she sent out strands of electromagnetic energy, pulling together the countless tiny currents that floated through the air, until there was enough to unleash her attack.

Suddenly, she swept her hand down violently, and a bolt of lighting streaked towards the earth as if she'd pulled it down from the skies. Larxene wasn't planning on hitting Dante with the attack; she just wanted to see if he would jump.

Lucky for Dante, he'd been poised and ready to avoid some sort of attack from the moment he'd begun laying on the good, ol' Dante Sparda charm. In a blur of red, the half-devil darted backwards in a burst of superhuman speed to avoid the bolt of lightning that coursed down at him. It had been easy enough to avoid. In hindsight, he realized that he probably wouldn't even have had to draw upon his less-than-human aspects to dodge the blow. Had she been trying to hit him at all?

Still best to be safe. Dante heaved an exaggerated sigh and spread his arms wide to invite another shot, wary despite appearances.

"Well, damn. I bet that makes things interesting in the bedroom," he remarked obnoxiously. "Sorry, babe, but I'm not really into that kind of thing."

Larxene grinned. Well, he was fast - faster than she'd first thought. She resisted the urge to immediately attack him again, just to see if he was fast as her. "Awww, that's too bad," she replied. Her voice now had a hard, cold edge to it. "You seem like the kind of guy who can really appreciate the meaning of pain."

Very deliberately, Larxene summoned two of her kunai, though for all outward appearances she merely pulled them out of her sleeves. She began to casually twirl them between her fingers and sway slightly from side to side, as if listening to some inner music. "And here I thought I'd finally found someone to play with," she sighed.
