Hollow Bastion's capital was just as busy as some of the cities on Slade's home world. It wasn't as polluted as Gotham, didn't have the technology of Metropolis, but if he walked down the street he could see just as many people. Some of them weren't even humanoid. He blended in easily, despite the half colored mask he wore. It was the first time in a long time that he could hide in plain sight.
The small family owned restaurant he stopped at had a perfect view of the castle. That was one of its many charms. He always ordered a coffee, which he never drank (it would mean taking off his mask). The son of the family brought it to him without worrying about asking about cream or sugar. Slade eyed him as he walked to clean up a table that had recently been vacated. He was thin, but strong. It was well-known that he was training to become part of the army. Slade watched him work for a moment, picturing what he would look like with a weapon in his hands. He wondered if the boy would ever face an enemy that wasn’t a Heartless, and what he would do the first time he was put in a real battle.
Slade's gaze turned towards the window again. The women who controlled the war resided in it, even if not all of them were there at the moment. The towers were huge and twisted. He had learned about the history of this world shortly after coming to it. He hadn't seen his own world for two years. His fingers idly picked up his spoon and began stirring the dark liquid in the mug. The heat played off his hand and he could smell it through the mask. It made him smile.
Smells were always intoxicating to him, especially after spending so much time in Hell. There was something ironic about that.
Two years... he wondered how things were going, despite the fact that he really couldn’t bring himself to care. It was probably more of the same propaganda that could be found here, after all the world embraced the Heartless war just as easy as it did with any conflict. Boring.
Something was stirring here, though, Slade could feel it. It excited him. He waited and he watched.
