Akatsuki no Yona blu-ray
I bought v1 of the Akatsuki no Yona blu-ray~~. It only has three episodes...
I'm much more of a manga collector, but Akayona is a series after my heart, so I bought the blu-ray. I'm just so happy to see one of Kusanagi Mizuho's series animated (after following her works for so long), and the anime was adapted super well.
I watched it today~. Even though it hasn't even been all that long, it was kind of nostalgic rewatching the first three episodes. Yona has really grown a lot. And I get teary-eyed every time I see Min-soo. ;__; Yona, Soo-won, and Hak were such cute kids. D:
An audio CD is included, featuring Maeno Tomoaki and Kobayashi Yusuke talking about various stuff. The blu-ray itself features a gallery with rough drafts from the anime, a digest of an Akatsuki no Yona event featuring Saito Chiwa (Yona), Maeno Tomoaki (Hak), and Kobayashi Yusuke (Soo-won), and commentary from Maeno and Kobayashi over episode 1.
In the digest, they were asked whether Hak or Soo-won is more of an ikemen. They had to sell their characters. XD;; Saito Chiwa was asked who she preferred, and she said if it was just appearance-wise without knowing the characters, then Soo-won, because he's so much like a prince. But if she really had to choose, and if it was an option, she would choose Yoon! XDD;;; /amused. Apparently, she and Minagawa Junko (Yoon's seiyuu) have talked about this before, and other female staff also like Yoon the best. Yoon is #1. XDDD Anyway, they were asked to talk about Hak and Soo-won's appeal--their kindness, manliness, and how well they understand a girl's heart. Kobayashi wanted everyone to set aside the first two episodes, because after watching them, Soo-won was obviously at a disadvantage! XD;; But then he changed his mind and said to at least consider the first half of the first episode. Wasn't Soo-won obviously kind there? They had Saito Chiwa decide the winner in the end, and she chose Hak because she'll have to travel with him.
I watched the commentary of episode 1 last, but they really didn't comment on the episode much. XD; They felt it was nostalgic, especially since they had voiced the drama CDs too, which came way before the anime. Maeno said that it's a special feeling watching a character he had voiced in a drama CD be animated. They talked about how unique they thought the instrumental opening was. Kobayashi talked about the time he auditioned for Soo-won, one of his earliest main roles, and how he was asked to randomly talk. It kind of helped ease his nerves too. They reminisced about the Akayona talk event where Yoon was obviously #1 and they were only fighting for #2, lol. But apparently, the staff who were in their 20's(?) liked Shin-ah the best. His solemness? Mysteriousness? But upon further explanation, it was explained that it was because Ao would be part of the deal, LOL. Ao is the best, this is true.
During the scene where Soo-won kills Yona's father, they went, "Ah, he did it..." Things can never be the same now. ;___;
