Read this after scintillulae brought it up! Another book written by Vivian Vande Velde, this one has a girl stuck in a virtual game. Was a pretty fascinating read. :D
I can't believe how many times Janine (Giannine) had to restart on the hill. What a nightmare! (was handled in an interesting way though) I also found the different events and ways she triggered them quite fascinating because the possibilities seemed limitless. There was so much going on, all thrown at her at once. Seriously no time to rest. I also enjoyed how she approached different brothers each time, and used knowledge she gained from previous attempts to help. (Even though she had to pretend she didn't know the info, since she hadn't gained it yet from asking around)
The characters in the game are all so harsh though. One misstep, and she's dead. Kenric is particularly devious, man. Going through all that, with him seeming fairly friendly, and then poison? What a back-stabbing guy. The ring also turned out not too important in the last run. But back to Kenric, I kept imagining him as a dark, brooding mage. My favorite. XD; I expected him to warm up to Janine... I suppose he did, sort of. Wulfgar was interesting, though he was not all that important in the last run.
Still, those were all game characters. It was fascinating to see Giannine in such a realistic game with her life on the line, but knowing that she was interacting with fake characters did put the interaction in a different light. If there were actually such a game, I'd want to play it, but maybe without the full immersion part, haha.
My favorite character was Penrod. Or at least, in the tries when he didn't kill Janine.

Arctic Fox and Prince conversation:
Prince: Arctic Fox, are you aware that Kenshin is a NPC?
Arctic Fox: Yes.
Prince: Does it bother you?
Arctic Fox: Not really, but I've been thinking...
Prince: Thinking?
Arctic Fox: Is it possible to set his gender to female and then sell him to me? If it is, could you also make him stronger?
Prince: ...
Arctic Fox: That way I won't need to find a sparring partner and a girlfriend separately.
Prince (thinking): Must warn Kenshin to stay away from Arctic Fox... too dangerous...
Pfft. *headdesk* XD;; Oh gosh, I almost forgot about this part. And Arctic Fox says it all with such a serious expression. Because he truly means what he's saying.
...I don't think I ever figured out when Arctic Fox became aware that Kenshin is an NPC. Was it around this time when everyone learned about it, or did he become aware of it before all this? =x *is a bad fan*

Translated a chapter from volume 3 for PR! and now I'm dying to write something about Leaf and Ice for chapter 3 of Entries in a Holy Knight's Journal, but I don't think we'll see the chapter in English until next year. XD; But maybe it'll still be okay to write since it's not spoilerish about plot events but rather is a character quirk we learn about... I should write it before the plunny escapes. And then warn people about the possible spoilers... ahhhhh. ):
Aruosumente (and other Aki works)
Started reading Aruosumente by Aki when I saw Easy Going Scans put it up. I love the art a whole lot, and the main character reminds me of Soren/Judgment (any character that reminds me of Soren is an immediate fav, haha). I ended up reading other works by Aki, like A*D Tenshi no Uso, Utahime, Olimpos, and Hana Matsuri. All are short works with beautiful art and a captivating plot. I wonder how long Aruosumente will be... hopefully not too short!
Out of the above, my favorite is A*D Tenshi no Uso. Would have liked Utahime more if more of the current story was told (instead of the past in flashback form). Will be following this mangaka's works! *__*

I tossed in my fics over at Remix Madness so that I can remix other people's fics if I want to... I doubt anyone will remix my fics, but who knows?
If anyone wants to play, remix madness is open for the weekend! Fics are revealed on May 1 Monday.
