Fall days...

Well, it's officially Fall in Canada. The leaves on the trees have all turned wonderful shades of reds and oranges and are now starting fall (hence the name of the season). The past three weekends I have spent leaf-peeping both here in Toronto and up in Huntsville with Joanne and Doug, where I also spent Thanksgiving and ate pumpkin pie for the first time. Why is it that we Brits only like to carve things in them once a year and never use what we scoop out? Everything over here is now pumpkin-something, rather like when it's zucchini season, cakes, pies, drinks, the list goes on. The weather has turned cold (though it's warm today which is a little freaky) and my red winter coat has been making it's first outings of the season along with various sweaters that have seen daylight since April in Whistler. I have two weeks of work left and three weeks til I come home - you have been warned! I am so excited to see you all again but I love it here and I am very sad to be leaving. It's like being torn in two and I wish I could either transport everyone form home here or vice-versa. Everyone at work keeps asking me to stay and they have even worked out a living schedule whereby I live with a different person for each 4 months of a year - it's very sweet. Last night we had a little leaving party in the restaurant for Allison, one of the kitchen staff, which was a lot of fun but kind of put the thought of my imminent departure to the front of my mind. I thought I was all set to go home but now I'm not so sure.

Anyhoo, here is a taster of a Canadian Fall.

I finally managed to get a photo of a chipmunk!

Me! With Fall foliage!

Joanne and Doug's cottage up near North Bay.

A sugar shack through the tress behind Joanne and Doug's house. Every March someone moves in here and taps all the trees around for Maple syrup.

The bush floor - lots of pretty colours!

Last weekend Leanne, Craig and I went to High Park in Toronto to do some city leaf-peeping. The trees aren't as advanced down here as they are in Huntsville which is about 3 hours north but we still got some pretty pictures and had a lovely walk in the Fall air.

And now I'm guessing your all leafed out so I' going to say toodle-pip til next time!
