Happo-cho part 2! I was sent to the same junior high school as last time, but with Tekle and Kobito now. The day went by a lot quicker as there was actually a schedule for us to follow compared to our first visit. We played a Jeopardy-type game with all three classes and levels (a.k.a. the whole school). We also caught an interesting event at the end, which was the election of the student council! The girls won. :p
Afterwards, my host family came to pick me up. It was the family of the half-Filipino girl attending the school, so it was pretty cool. The Filipina mother, however, was from another part of the country (Davao) and was hardly home that night so even if she was, we hardly got to talk because of dialect differences. I'm sure she understood me though. The father also knew a few words, but to be honest, the mix of Filipino and Japanese confused me due to his accent. The kid was also mostly with her friends and didn't know Filipino, soooo I was mostly speaking to the dad, who asked a lot of questions anyway.
The dad was nice. He talked to me a lot and asked some questions, but when he got started on his networking business, he didn't stop for the next 3 hours, and 2 hours the next morning. Maybe it's terrible of me, but I wasn't all that convinced or interested... being tired and cold and with an upset stomach (dinner didn't really go well with me), I just wanted to sit and watch Gaki No Tsukai videos. Which I did, for about half an hour.
I think my not being interested brought my bad karma because I realized I left some clothes at their house. Sigh. I don't know if I can get it back... or if I even want to. 笑;; I'm sorry for saying such a thing.
Anyway, the next morning we went to a preschool, played Red Light, Green Light, then sang Christmas songs together. All of the kids were angels, really~ and not as active as the kindergarten we went to for the first trip, so I didn't get as tired this time.
After that, we went to a concert hall where we were yet again asked to sing to old people. This time, about 300-400 people came, and even the vice-mayor (my host family from the Happo-cho family!) was there with his wife, who gave me a photobook of our stay together. It was all so nice~ the oldies were also a lot nicer and more genki than the first group so it felt kind of good despite us being terrible at singing and dancing yet again.
We stayed for the whole program this time so I got quite sleepy towards the end, but I had fun regardless. Looking forward to how Happo-cho 3, the last trip, in December will turn out!
