Date: May 29th Location: Starting outside the manor, heading to his room Status: Public (Open to anyone who would like to welcome him home :3) - COMPLETE Summary: Raphael returns from Venice… with presents
Gabriel slid the last book into its proper place and dusted off his hands, wondering whether or not to spend his lunch break taking all the books out, wiping the shelves and dusting each book before replacing it.
Decision made, he had just dragged a table over to the shelf and was beginning to move the books to the table when the arrival of a familiar, but strengthened, presence distracted him. Raphael was back.
He put down Legends of the Egyptian Gods: Hieroglyphic Texts and Translations carefully before sprinting out of the library and down to the front door of the Manor.
Raphael had just slid his bags down when he looked up and saw his big brother. Not even bothering to greet him first he raced towards him and pulled Gabriel into one of his trademark snuggles, embracing him warmly.
"It was wonderful," he said, a purr escaping his throat as he looked up at him with shining green eyes, the color of new leaves unfurling from the ground. "I got to help fix some of the damage at the church and I ate a lot of pasta and got to know this really nice antique bookseller and... Oh! I brought you a present!"
Moving away from him just a little he reached into one of his bags and pulled out something wrapped in colorful pink paper (some things will never change). Inside was the first printed edition of the Commedia.
"Open it!" he grinned, wanting to see his brother's face when he saw it.
Raphael smiled shyly at the mention of lunch. "Uhm, well, I ordered lunch, see... Stopped off somewhere on the way over for a sandwich but then I ran into this poor homeless man, see, and..."
"I missed my family more," he told him, though it was clear the thought of warm spaghetti was certainly Tempting him. "I saw such beautiful things, Gabriel. I... spent a long time at the church. Just listening. Praying. Soaking in their Love and Faith." He knew he didn't need to clarify which church.
He shrugged a little, readjusting his bag onto his other shoulder. "I'm sorry I didnt say good-bye in person. I was coming back anyway and you guys were busy and..." Raphael gave his trademark gentle smile, running his fingers through his hair in that way he did when he felt nervous or shy. He still wasnt used to it being short. "I just missed you," he finally said.
The Messenger nodded, squeezing Raphael's shoulder. "I'm glad it helped." He pulled Raphael towards the Manor gently. "And Michael and Aziraphale will be glad to see you. Rose too, I think."
Gabriel wasn't actually quite sure what Raphael was thanking him for - it wasn't the offer to help carry the bag, he was sure of that. Was Raphael referring to their first trip to Venice and everything else the Messenger had done before that? Gabriel didn't see any need for a special thank-you; Raphael was his brother, after all. He could hardly have done anything else.
"You should thank Michael too," he smiled. "He shared his room with you, after all."
"I will," he promised. And he would. He snugged into Gabriel's shoulder again. "I feel different, like I've changed, but I suppose I'll have to wait to find out if its for the better."
If what happened to me... If what I've gone through... If the pain and suffering and consequences...
If I really have learned like I hope I have. I won't know, not really, until I am tested again...

"Raphael." He pressed a kiss to Raphael's forehead. "How was Venice?"

"You didn't have to, you know," he smiled, accepting the gift. "But thank you."
He carefully unwrapped it, trying not to grimace at the wrapping, and a huge grin spread over his face. He loved the Commedia.
"Thank you!" He hugged Raphael again before carefully rewrapping the book so that it wouldn't get dirty. "Have you had lunch?"

There really weren't enough words in the spoken language.
