Back to work [Paula, Bones, back on board]
It felt good to be back, Paula thought as she sat at her desk, finally making headway on getting caught up. The brief visit to the starbase had been… interesting, she supposed, for lack of a better word. The base itself was impressive, and she’d managed to tour the laboratories during her time off the ship.
The tour had been informative, her eager eyes taking in everything as she was shown through the department, chatting animatedly with Commander Oliver. By the time they had parted ways, Paula was already considering a reorganization of one of Enterprise’s labs to better utilize the available space.
She had visited the civilian level after that, making a few purchases but for the most part simply wandering, enjoying watching the crowds. Hikaru had gone back to the ship earlier to prepare for departure, but he’d made her promise to stay as long as possible and enjoy herself before she had to report. He was still a little worried about her, she thought with a smile. But she was feeling good as new and had returned to a full day's work. Which had been over for a few minutes, Paula realized, glancing up at the chronometer. She turned back to her console and frowned at the messages there... as if doing so would make the contents of her inbox change.
The only thing concerning her at the moment was that she hadn’t heard from Leonard, and she wasn’t sure how his surgery had gone. Paula had sent him a message a few days ago, wanting to arrange lunch while they were on the base, but he hadn’t replied. It was unlike him, and that worried her. After checking his location in the computer, she secured her station and headed toward Sickbay.
