...letter back from Ofcom about the complaint I made regards Channel 4's Age 8 and wanting a sex change.
Complaint not upheld, but it's a 3 page report. Channel 4 didn't respond to my complaint themselves directly, but it's clear Ofcom have grilled them a bit.
However, Ofcom have accepted C4's bizarre and wrongheaded explanations for why their offensive use of "HE" for the girls and "SHE" for the boys and the man who had fully transitioned. They claim this use of birth pronoun allowed the show to educate a wider audience.
Did it fuck! It gave people with no info entirely the wrong message, those with a little info and a belief that trans=BAD support and affirmation, and to those who know the score it gave us a bad feeling in the pit of our stomachs.
So, bad week not ending until tonight then. It can't go past that - it was sunday morning when I started with the shitty sinus pain.
