Chapter 3: Sephiroth Team's Escape

Jun 11, 2010 15:54

The power is out, a vehicle has been obtained, and Sephiroth has been found within the labs. In confusion, there is profit; with the nearby power plant still on fire and parts of periodically exploding, there will certainly be a chance for them to get away. All will not be easy for this group, however. Despite the confusion, their path will not ( Read more... )

We'll make this quick, but not to rush it [Direct Tag: Laylee] sephiroth_san July 9 2010, 07:29:54 UTC
We're getting you out of here

Well it was obvious that the power was out, for whatever reason. Of course they were going to have to transport him somewhere else. But there was that nagging, near instinctual hunch. This couldn't be the opportunity, right?

The clear sound of the clasps from his left side releasing followed by the instant releasing of tension around his arms and shoulders made the decision for him and he was awake in an instant, pushing hard past all the drugs and his forcing his consciousness to cling onto it. Followed by the release of the straps around his legs, adrenaline was pumping to the point where he could have been shaking from the tension of remaining still and unmoving.

Laylee's shriek at the people that had done it was all the indiciation he needed. Sephiroth forced his awareness outward, eyes open in a flash. All pains and discomfort were irrelevant, the induced exhaustion forgotten as if it didn't exist at all. He'd pulled whatever power he could muster from hidden deep inside his core and used it all for this one goal. He couldn't miss this chance!

In one fluid movement he'd sat up and most sensory equipment had snapped off. He took a moment to glare at the various IV's before purposefully flexing his upper body hard, snapping two needles in his arm and then pulling the rest clean out with a defiant sweep of his arm as he rose from the bed. His left arm was a mass of blood dripped down from the holes created, his right spared much punishment. Lines left dangling weeped their chemicals all over the floor.

Mother, lend me your strength now He cried out internally and as if upon his command his large black wing extended fully from his right shoulder and he lunged at Laylee. It was dark and so hard at that speed to see much detail but a definite sound of metal piercing through skin and thicker things was heard. A second later, Sephiroth was fully clothed in his trademark leather and armor and Laylee was pinned close.

Masamune peeked out through the back of her, thickly stained with blood.

T__T RIP Dr. S. Laylee sephiroth_san July 9 2010, 16:22:45 UTC
Sephiroth held firmly his position until it was over, un-phased by her noise, her final prayer, even by her blood as it dripped from her chin to dance on leather. Only then did Masamune's angle reduce and Sephiroth stepped back to withdraw the legendary blade from it's carcass.

But this illusion was short-lived, this momentary return to his full strength. Sephiroth had done what was needed and now done it seemed the very specks of lifestream which had claimed his victims soul were eating away also at his own resolve. The firm grip he had managed to force upon this power was slipping like sand through his fingers. It ate away at his clothing, dissolving it like a smoking cinder except once dissolved the ash vanished into the nothing from whence it had come.

A few dots of blood hit the floor near to the fallen scientist and his attention was drawn to them. It was his, fallen from his multi-punctured arm. Masamune was already gone and the rest of the illusion shattered like glass stretched too thin.

Mother He thought loudly, hoping....begging her to stay....

Sephiroth was plummeted back into the deep endless pit of chemical restraint he'd been in moments before, stripped of everything he'd gained in that flash. The wave of nausea had been unexpected and it swung his naked body backwards, then forwards; Sephiroth crashed to his knees as his legs suddenly forgot how to work. Black feathers erupted into nothingness, a few hung in the air momentarily before they smoldered away.

Bye-bye Dr. Laylee! T.T puisne_turk July 9 2010, 16:44:53 UTC
Everthing happened so quickly Elena wasn't even sure what had happened. She'd gotten the last clasp undone, as had Vega, and Laylee was throwing a fit. Understandably, of course, because they'd let loose the greatest disaster to hit Gaia in all of the planet's history. It was understandable that the good doctor should experience a short wave of panic.

Panic was sometimes an epidemic if the circumstances were right. Besides the fact that she had been going on for the last twenty minutes without a plan - Reno would've been amused that she was 'winging it' - she hadn't expected for this to happen. Either Laylee was wrong about the sedatives and his incapacitated state or Sephiroth was far stronger than they ever anticipated because he was fast and deadly. Before she could react he was standing, looking at his prime with his sword in hand and his standard issue uniform and Laylee was skewered through.

Elena involuntarily gasped, hands clasping over her mouth, watching the woman's last final moments. There was just a small amount of pity for the now-dead scientist, though thankful that her death was quick. Turning back to Sephiroth, the transformation flickered before dissolving away leaving him striped of his weapon, his strength...and his clothing. An eyebrow lifted slightly, the view of his backside blocked by his ridiculiously long hair. Even as he wobbled, Elena was transfixed by the number of black feathers floating in the hair until she realized just what was about to happen.

"Vega! Catch him!"

Her eyes narrowed as Laylee started to yell at the two of them. Hadn't she guessed by now that they weren't actually here to secure him? But to free him? There wasn't much of a way that they could accidentally unhook him.

It happened so fast, Sephiroth snapping the needles in his arm, pulling them out. His dark wing erupted from his back as his clothes appeared and his sword.

Vega's breath caught in her throat then at the sight of Sephiroth killing Laylee. She still couldn't believe how quickly he had moved, or that he could summon his weapon like that, even as an illusion of sorts. Vega couldn't have guessed that they'd end up killing Laylee, watching her soul disperse to join the Lifestream.

"Vega! Catch him!" She turned to look at Elena and nodded quickly before grabbing a hold of Sephiroth before he hit the ground. Everything was gone and he was once more falling under the influence of the drugs they had pumped into him.

"Only one thing left to do, get the hell outta here." Vega said without another glance at Laylee's body. With some difficulty, Vega wrapped Sephiroth's arm over her shoulder and pulled him further off the ground, careful not to aggravate the holes from the needles. They'd need to find him some bandages or some cure materia, and something to wear.

Vega's catch was well timed, Sephiroth's collapse was halted sharply enough to jolt the descent into unconsciousness he'd figured would be the inevitable outcome.

As it was, he was still not much more than a half-conscious dead weight at that moment. The world seemed to crash in on him like gravity itself had become heavier; he tried to use his left arm to help support some of his weight as Vega looped his other arm over her shoulder but it didn't work too well. The arm with it's ripped holes then stretched by the forced use of Masamune just shuddered when he tried it. He tried to look over Vega as she brought him to his feet but his eyes would only open a fraction before stinging painfully closed. He wasn't going to get out of anywhere if he allowed the growing darkness behind his eyes to take over now.

"Ugh..." He thought he'd thought that sound rather than vocalized it as he found his feet wouldn't hold much more weight either. Calves twitched from the effort and recent prolonged disuse the same way his ankles and knees seemed to follow. His knees where he'd landed throbbed with what could be more pain if he thought about it too much. Sephiroth was vaguely aware of what he must look like in front of these girls, how weak he must seem having to have nearly his whole weight supported by one of them; she was quite strong having gotten him to his feet already and that held some hope at least. The red head - he thought that he had saw red - was right, they needed to get out of here now.

Don't slip on the blood Hojo vegashadow July 12 2010, 01:18:04 UTC
She was thankful of her time as a SOLDIER, otherwise, she'd have never been able to get Sephiroth up. As it was, he was still a bit taller than she was and that made it a little harder. At least they only had to get to the vehicle that Kira had hijacked.

"What is going on here?"

Vega recognized that voice, barely. She turned to see the head of Shinra's Science Department: Hojo. She made a face and glanced between Elena and the silver-haired man she was supporting.

"Get out of our way Professor. Make it easy on yourself." Vega's voice was low, almost dark.

Because Hojo asked for this...he couldn't even remember her name!! puisne_turk July 12 2010, 22:09:35 UTC
"Good catch," Elena spoke, impressed by the girl's speed. Her strength was worth noting as well, lifting up what was surely a heavier frame than her own was no easy task. Even with two good legs she was pretty sure wouldn't be able to do it; she could barely drag Rude by his arms and keeping Reno up after seven too many drinks was a challenge.

Elena had only a fraction of a second to hear the footsteps - hurried, panicked - before the owner burst into the doorway. In those few moments she melted into the darkness near the wall, gripping the handle of her cane like a baseball bat. A corner of her mouth quirked up into a grin when voice and visual were identified. This was too perfect.

"Hello Professor," Elena purred, inching closer to the doorway, "Thank you for taking care of Brother but," Brother? Since when do I talk like a Remnant?, "...its time to check out. Both him...and you."

Stepping into the faint emergency lighting, enough for any eye to note the dark navy suit of the Turks and the blonde hair, Elena's arms pulled back and arced forward. If her cane was the bag, Hojo's head was the ball and she was looking for a Grand Slam.

And marr that wonderfully devious brain of his? puisne_turk July 13 2010, 17:37:38 UTC
A satisfied smirk with a contented 'hmph' sounded in the nearly silent room. Finally, she was doing what so many people (including herself) had dreamed of doing. Hojo's infamous behavior, rudeness, and lack of ethical standards had irked more than just those around him. It trickled down in rumors, whispers of experiments and "scietific studies". Even if he had been unusually friendly with her previously, it didn't wipe the slate clean.

The old man was stubborn, all right, refusing to just lay down after her first swing. He was a witness, getting a good look at not just her but Vega as well. Hazel eyes narrowed. You...can't even remember my name?! His movement registered, even in darkness, the sounds of fabric shifting and moving. Taking a step back, she dropped her cane and raised her fists in a defensive stance.

"You're too old, Hojo. To old and too slow."

When he lunged, she moved as well, one hand grasping the wrist that held the needle the second pulling the opposite shoulder towards her, bringing her knee up towards his middle. Surely a good hit to his solar plexus would knock him out before the needle in his hand got too close to her neck.

By the time Vega had managed to slowly walk Sephiroth over to the doorway; close enough for him to at least grip it for some additional support, the silver- haired warriors world was slipping in and out of focus through barely opened eyelids. One heartbeat he was aware, almost enough to be able to hold some of his balance and the next he lost it like trying to grab at an invisible thread and just falling short.

He'd noted, through hearing mostly the arrival of the Professor but had neither the time or energy to deal with him now. There was only one goal he had to put all of his attention into right that moment and that entailed getting out of this facility. After a short pause gripping the ridge of the doorway Sephiroth slightly re-shuffled his bleeding arm around Vega's shoulders before attempting again to walk with fastly numbing extremities. He felt cold at said extremities and the sensation was spreading alarmingly; a small shudder communicated it to his helper.

Vega felt a shudder from Sephiroth and looked around for something to keep the cold air off him. Spotting a labcoat, Vega's free arm snatched it up and threw it around the general's shoulders. It would have to do for now, until they could try to find something larger. None of the scientists here could compare the Sephiroth's size, she was quite sure of that.

The last thing any of them wanted was for Sephiroth to end up sick on top of his new wounds and all the drugs. At least Kira was getting the vehicle ready for them.

Vega had to carefully guide him along the halls. Since the passage they had first come in through had mostly collapsed, she had to find another way out.

"Almost there." Even on the edge of consciousness, she was sure hearing that would help him a bit.

It's a slow ol' plod.... sephiroth_san July 13 2010, 21:06:42 UTC
Sephiroth tried his best to use his opposite arm to reach out for the wall nearest him on one side when it was close enough for him to take some of his weight from Vega's shoulders. She'd shown admirable determination and strength in getting him to his feet in the first place and since she was the only route out of here at the moment he didn't want to break the only support he had consistently being there. He didn't seem to notice when a lab coat was thrown about his shoulder.

But his sense of depth was all screwy, which meant that sometimes he'd reach for a wall which was further than he thought, then his balance would follow and eventually fall against Vega more than he intended. It was a good old struggle to just get down the one corridor, with the occasional small scrape/near miss of bare feet on sharp debris let alone the apparent difficulty Sephiroth had in getting his feet to take weight at all.

Every little falter threatened to spiral out of control and drag him under, there were several forced deep breaths taken on the way as they stumbled to find their way out of the facility. Sephiroth had heard Vega's reassurance that they were almost there but if he'd stopped concentrating to answer her he might not be able to hold his semi-consciousness.
