With less than a month to go until Burning Man, I've finally started on my shower. It's loosely based on the design at http://timefold.com/shower/index.html, but I'd have to say that the design is heavily influenced by the parts I've got lying around the house. I may end up burning the base instead of bringing it back with me, depending on how well it works. I've got all the parts cut, but I probably won't be able to put it together until tomorrow. Then I'll decide if the shower curtain framework I've got already will work or if I need to make a new one out of PVC. If I have to make it, I may just slice the parts to fit, and then put it together on the playa. I don't know if I want to deal with glueing more PVC this summer. Putting together the framework for my trailer was a serious pain.

In any case, it'll probably be done tomorrow.

As for word on my bike trip, I think I've decided on the bike I want to use for the trip. It's a Trice T (http://www.ice.hpv.co.uk/standard_trikes/t.htm). I test rode one at www.hostelshoppe.com and I was quite impressed. I'd originally wanted the Greenspeed GTO based on the things I'd read about it online, but after trying the T I was sold. It was a much more comfortable ride, and can be customized to include all of the things that I had liked about the GTO. Of course that means that I'll need to pick up a bunch of little knick knacks to hold all my gear. For instance, a standard bottle holder doesn't work with a trike frame. Also, things that would normally be mounted on the handlebars need to be placed somewhere else, and I can't wear a backpack while riding it.

I won't be getting it until next year at least, since I'll need to save up some money for it. Buying a house has been pretty expensive.

I think that I'll be riding the bus a lot once I finish moving into the new place. Until all my stuff is transferred I'll be driving, so that I can take a load over every day. Once I'm in however, there's a bus that goes straight out to where I work. There's also a stop just down the street from where I'll be living, so in the winter I can stay on the bus the whole way. When it's nice enough to ride I can either ride the whole way, or hitch a ride on a bus starting about 10 blocks away at the Capitol.

house, bike trek, burning man, moving
