When you look with your eyes, everything seems nice

iPod commercials totally work on me. Well, I'm still on my first player, but I'm a little obsessed with "Viva La Vida" right now, and looking at the list of featured songs, I have several in my library (though some were there before the ads aired). I'm going through a Coldplay phase right now; I've been listening to their older stuff as well and I really like it.

I've also been listening to Lily Allen's "Alright, Still" again. Driving around in the heat blasting "LDN" on the stereo is a signature summer moment for me.

The car is my main music venue these days, and the five-hour drive to Gunnison this weekend seemed a lot longer since The Mom was dead and there are few radio stations in the mountains. Troy's mom got to listen to my a cappella stylings for a while, which I'm sure she thoroughly enjoyed.

Apart from the drive, this weekend was actually a lot of fun. I feel like I really started getting comfortable with his family, and we got to know each other a little better. Cooking dinner on a woodburning stove was interesting -- I waited more than an hour for water to boil and ended up cooking the pasta in stagnant hot water because we were starving, but it turned out OK. And it definitely made me appreciate my microwave.

New topic: "Weeds" is so good this year. WAY better than beyond-crazy season three. And I'm a little obsessed with "Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods." I hate "American Idol," but I find these random singing/dancing competitions and become totally sucked in. Hmm. I also watched "I Love the New Millenium" last night -- it's amazing how many of those things I'd already forgotten about. It was also amazing how thinly veiled all of the commentators' hatred for Dubya is. Michael Ian Black called him a fucker (so far as I could tell) when discussing the '00 election. Awesome.

tvs, musica, the fam, pop
