I seem to be most productive between 1-3 a.m.

I'm kind of a deadbeat cake decorating student. I went to the first class, but it's unlikely I'll be attending any more (there's only four). I made my first assignment, but the Crisco-based icing is gross, and I'm more interested in how the cake tastes than how it looks. So this week I made a cake based on that, employing a few of the techniques I learned in class.

It's white cake with raspberry filling and vanilla icing. I should have waited to put the fruit on until it was ready to serve, but hopefully the glaze will keep it from getting kanasty.

I'm taking it camping (yes, I made a cake for a camping trip) this weekend with Troy's fam. I'm a little anxious about the trip, but I think I just have to remember how to enjoy myself whilst doing nothing. Last time we went, I felt weird just sitting around the fire, like there were a million things I could/should be doing and I was wasting time. Hopefully I can let go of that idea this time around.

Speaking of things I could/should be doing, wedding plans are slowly progressing. Invitations are good to go; I'll drop them off at the post office on Monday. There's a million little things left to do, but I'm trying not to worry about them and just check a few things off the list each week.

One thing that has me stumped, however, is the bridesmaids' gift. I was initially thinking a bag of goodies to include either this or this. But my three attendants are quite different, so it seems odd to get them the same thing, even though it seems like all three would like it (and they'd all get slightly different ones). Should I scrap the idea of getting similar gifts and just get each one something they'd like to have?

My boss has turned me on to the idea of watching YouTube videos at work. Well, he watches them. I mostly search for music and then listen to them, as I feel it's important to at least look like I'm working. I saw "Thinking of You" on Katy Perry's blog, and IT IS SOOO GROOD! I'm beyond jealous of that girl's voice. This inspired me to search out other covers, and I was shocked to find that most of them are TERRIBLE. Like very, very bad. I've yet to find a decent Mraz interpretation. Some of them are just people goofing around, but a lot of them are people who are serious about it, which is unfortunate. Do they not know they can't sing? Granted, I sing all the time, but (1) I would NEVER put that shit on YouTube and (2) I am fully aware that my voice, though at one time quite passable, is not on par with Colbie Caillat or even Britney Spears and therefore do not possess the deluded dream of becoming a star. But whatever floats your boat, I suppose.
