Hai. THey're to hold demons and other dark spirits... normally priests use them... it's alright. It happens.

It was a man who did it but I don't know why. I don't know why anyone would want to see those memories... It's hard to tell if he'd be one who enjoyed torture... but I rather not think of it like that... he seemed lost... so perhaps... it was a mistake...

[She doesn't respond to his reassurances, still looking down at him with a slight frown. After another moment, she steps forward and moves to sit next to her roommate on the floor of the closet. She glances at him out of the corner of her eye, then looks around casually.]

Hm. Cozy in here, isn't it? [Her tone is light and it's obviously supposed to be a joke, though she isn't smiling.]

[She turned to look at the small demon as he leaned in to her, shifting closer and gently placing a hand on his head. She didn't know any of the details - who couldn't he save? From what, and why? And how could she ask him to explain something like that, when it clearly pained him so much? The most she could do was offer him cliched words of comfort, and hope he knew how much she meant them.]

I'm sure you did the best you could. You've always done that, ever since I met you...the very best you could, no matter what. Sometimes...there's just nothing more you can do...

[He sniffled, wanting to stop crying but when he held it back it just seemed to burst back stronger. He was supposed to be over this. He wasn't supposed to be sad anymore.

But I.... I don't know if it was best... best for her or... best for me... I ... I never thought they'd really do it... and it happened so fast! I failed as their guardian and... [He chokes up even more] And yet people praise me for it... as if it was me who did anything at all. I brought her to a world I brought her there but... If I did so well than why... why couldn't they all still be alive too...? Than she'd never have to suffer...

[After a moment he tries to wipe his own tears away, muttering]

I'm sorry, I didn't... I don't want to worry you.... I'm sorry...
