Feeling validated
American Dragons edited by Laurence Yep is a compilation of short stories and poems written by Asian American authors. A lot of the stories resonate with my own experience growing up and its definitely a great feeling to be able to relate to what the characters are experiencing, feeling, or thinking. Too bad I didn't get the chance to read these kind of stories/experiences while I was attending public school when I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb because of the way I looked or feeling invisible for the same reason.
