Got up this morning at roughly 8:15am after falling asleep sometime after 6am and going to Closing Ceremonies of Training. We got third by a bullshit convergence of chance and a donation of points (and would have legitimately gotten second and only lost by two points, dammit). But we podium'd, won the Triwizard Tournament (a case study portion) and got the Hermione Granger award. I'm quite content with that.
Ate lunch, then came back to Miller to do a bulletin board on going green.
I painted for probably three or four hours, and I felt so much better after it was all done. Everyone thinks it's gorgeous (or calls me an over achiever) but it's cathartic, dammit! Thanks, Keisha, that's exactly what it is. *smirk*
Then there was a staff meeting and planning for programming and planning for tomorrow and decorating for tomorrow which is RITH which is ROARING INTO THE HALLS *crowd roars* which is when residents move in (if they haven't already because of Sorority Recruitment or because they're out of state camp kids).
So, yeah. Finishing bulletin boards, taking work breaks to dance to the Mississippi Cha Cha Slide and The Bunny Hop and using crazy scissors and meeting my residents for like the fourth time in the elevator (causing epic facepalms, of course) and Cane's all add up to my night. But I'm not done yet, I've got to go make two more banners with my floor mate downstairs before I can even change out of these clothes and go take a shower.
Then I get to try and fall asleep in my trainwreck of a room (because I turned it upside down looking for a bandana. A BANDANA, PEOPLE, HOW OCD CAN I GET SOMETIMES WTF) and wake up at 7am bright and early to welcome the rest of my residents. I will never take for granted the preparation some people must do to get a place in spic-and-span, neat-as-a-pin and decorated-to-the-nines place ever again.
I'm falling asleep over O'Halloran's warm keyboard and that's not allowed, but I really just want to climb into bed right now and hibernate until Monday.
Maybe Thanksgiving. Or Christmas.
Apparently this is the life of an RA. Guess I'll get used to it.
