The amazingness of that show.

O. M. G.

Seriously. I'm just so happy. It was wonderful. I didn't really feel Collins, and Mimi's stage movements were a little stiff, but Angel left nothing to be desired and DUH MARK AND ROGER WERE GOOD BECAUSE OMFG ADAM PASCAL AND ANTHONY RAPP AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *FANGASM*

They were signing autographs after (in the rain, bless) and it was all I could do to not explode. Adam. Is so. Fucking. CUTE. I'm grinning like an idiot just thinking about it again. All he did was make eye contact and I am being a ridiculous flailtastic fan but I don't care EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Other than Contact (and the slight reordering of the musical numbers/juxtapositions of numbers), I really like the play just as much as the movie. Maureen was kooky and goofy and I kept calling Joanne Tracie in my head and Mimi had a gorgeous voice and the Benny was no Taye Diggs (but hey, that's a lot to live up to). Also, the soloists in Seasons Of Love-- WOW.

The drive was pretty awesome on the way up until it got extremely rainy and stormy and gray and it was like that on the way back and yes, we did get rained on and sat in the theatre half-wet for most of the performance. By the time it ended, we were dry, but then we went back and stood in the drizzle to get autographs. AND THEY WERE SO TOTALLY WORTH IT. I think I drew a half-smile from a tired and kind of surly looking (although he was being perfectly polite) Anthony Rapp. I think. I was so surprised they were doing autographs after a matinee performance! That was so nice of them! Not the whole cast, of course, I only managed to get four sigs, but hey, that's more than I expected at all.

I did all the driving today, totaling up to roughly six or seven hours worth. Add in a full dinner from Sonic and having been up until 4am this morning finishing a book (which I'll get to in a moment), I am one tired puppy. I'm about to drink some water, set an alarm and pack it in until tomorrow's work. It's "Splash Day" and Ken asked me to stay later so I can learn how to lock up (even though I learned that from Taylor yesterday...?) for my upcoming late nights this week (*wail*) alone at the indoor pool.

And now, the book that kept me up reading all night because I literally could not put the damned thing down:

Furies of Calderon, by Jim Butcher.

Really slow beginning, like you're cruising along in third gear or so for like, 12-14 chapters. Cue the jump to fucking WARP NINE and it gets really, really good and doesn't stop. So good that when he gets back to a character, strings you along in their adventure for a chapter and then abruptly shifts focus, you want to know what's going on with that character so much it's tempting to skip to the next chapter about them just to find out. Insanely good, once it gets rolling. The first of five from the Library of Amalie. It's epic fantasy, so it follows a few of the basic ground rules (mysterious orphaned boy's parentage, characters who aren't as simple as they seem with ridiculous skills at crunch time, etc.) but the way the magic in the world is crafted (eheheh, you'll get the pun if you read it) is just phenomenal. I never would've thought of it that way. Kids of Eden is shaped in a similar manner, but only at the very fundamental level. I highly suggest it to those who like other epic fantasy of this caliber (*cough* evrymemry  *cough* cherryfeather  *cough* it's Eddings-esque *cough*).

*yawn* Okay. Going to curl up with the next book and a bottle of water and get some sleep. Ta.
