So. The Conservatives did the best last night. Fuck. However, they didn't get enough seats to govern alone, so we have a hung Parliament. To the surprise of everyone, the Lib Dems actually lost seats, even though percentage-wise, they weren't very far behind Labour. Our voting system needs to be reformed so badly.
As bad as I feel for the Lib Dems, if Clegg forms a coalition with the Conservatives, I will hurt someone. Possibly him. They don't even agree on the major things, most of the MPs in both parties will hate the idea of an alliance, and the Tories aren't going to give them electoral reform! And, most importantly, you'll be betraying your supporters! For the love of god, don't let the idea of power go to your heads, Lib Dems. The Conservatives will minimise what power you do have, and why on earth would they get rid of First Past the Post when it's working so well for them? The Lib Dems will be forever shut out. :(
And a hung Parliament might mean that the government will collapse, and so we'll have to do this whole thing again within a year. Yay?
In better news, the majority of Britain still hates the BNP and their racist, homophobic and sexist policies. Their leader, Nick Griffin, failed to be elected in Barking (which is like 15 minutes away from me, so I'm very relieved right now), and, of course, he blamed foreigners. Fuck you, Griffin. :D
Also, I'm making myself smile by imagining how annoyed Cameron and the Tories must be. Even after the war in Iraq, Labour were able to form a majority government. However, the Tories couldn't even manage that during a recession and with an unpopular Labour Prime Minister.
