Exciting Week Ahead - Part 1

Sep 21, 2010 10:58

This week is still an extension from this weekend and will be full and exciting as well. Emily did a surprise visit from U-of-IL on Saturday. She's changed and it's all good. i was worried since when Belle came home, i had a hard time dealing with her changes. It's strange that my kids have the same 2 parents and all are so different. She's joined a sorority and is happy with her choice. Her classes are hard but she's muddling through them. She even likes her job (Okay, who took my daughter and replaced her with this alien that looks liks her. LOL)

Anyways...My bestest friend in the entire world flies in today!!! i've written about her before but she has to be the most amazing person that i've met, been friends with and admire. i'm so proud of her and always honored to be her in company. She'll be staying until October 19th and so i am so lucky to have some very good times with her.

It's our 30th reunion "weekend" this week. i was hoping to drop a few pounds by Friday; however, Sir and Ed both like how i look and just want me healthy. Sir often tells me that i'm under his skin and he "craves" me and being around me - so, i shouldn't have to worry about a pound here and there. i guess toning up weighs a bit more. Yeah, okay. Anyways...that's besides the point. On Friday, we have a "tour" of our high school, the football game (which is being played against my kids' high school to where they went - lol. My son will be going and rooting for his team.)and then off to a great watering hole down the street - a huge barn with amazing bars, food and the works for our "pre-reunion" party. i'm sure that will last until the wee hours of the morning. i've already looked at the website that one of our classmates had made for us (amazing..has all the bells and whistles for everything!!!) and we have a good number of people attending. On Saturday, we will be at Arlington Park Race Track for the actual reunion. i can't wait. Lee DeWyze who was a graduate of my high school (only 24 years later...LOL i feel old)will be singing on Friday night.

My other friend started her chemo yesterday. We're not sure how she will physically feel by the weekend. She had her bilateral mystectomy at Prentice Women's Hospital - assoc. with Northwestern Memorial. She's in great hands. i feel bad as she just had her surgery 2 weeks ago and they wanted to be aggressive with treatment. She is stage 3. She has asked for her friends to pass along the weird way in which she discovered her cancer. She has always gone in for mammograms on an annual basis as her mom died while we were in high school of breast cancer. Hers was considered mammographically silent - which means it didn't pick it up at all. She noticed a small dimpling on her left breast and since it was different she went to the doctor. Her tumor was the size of a lemon and it wasn't even found on the mammogram. Hence, women need to do self breast exams, visual exams, mammograms and stay extremely pro-active in their care. i shared that the last mammogram that i had was 11 years ago and i won't ever wait so long to have one again. i do have a small lump in my left breast - Sir has felt it and i am scheduled for my screening. i am grateful for the lessons in life that are presented in front of me and i hope that this is just a scare and a second chance to be more aware of my body and take care of it. Sir said that i had better! i am so lucky how much he loves me and i love him. i want to be healthy and i don't go to those low places. i've been off all of my meds now and it's now time for me to be serious about my life physically, mentally and spiritually. i need to walk my talk - it was baby steps but i see and feel differences that i didn't think i would attain. i guess i needed to be surrounded by positive energy people (and well..kink and sadism doesn't hurt either. Actually, it does hurt..but Yum)

Have a beautiful week all. Part 2 coming up in a bit.
