Was 2008 a good year for you?
It started off terrible, but ended wonderfully.

Where were you, and who were you with, when 2008 began? And where will you be when it ends?
I think I was at home with my husband. I will probably be sleeping when 2008 ends. I can’t seem to make it much past 10pm anymore!

What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
- Got pregnant. Twice!
- Went to Arizona.
- Went to Las Vegas.
- Saw a Cirque du Soleil show.
- Saw George Carlin live!
- Joined a gym.
- Voted for the presidential candidate that actually won the election.
- Made banana bread from scratch.
- Gave a pet away

Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t typically make resolutions because I often forget them.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
TONS of co-workers!

Did anyone you know die?
Our first baby miscarried in April.

Did you attend any weddings or funerals?
Nope.

What countries did you visit?
No new countries this year!

Did you move anywhere?
NO! Thank goodness.

What sporting events did you go to?
None.

What concerts did you go to?
George Carlin “It’s Bad For Ya” on 02/02/08.

What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A healthy, happy baby. I’d also like to finish some projects!

What date(s) from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
February 2, 2008 - Saw George Carlin live.
March 27, 2008 - I found out I was pregnant.
April 10, 2008 - I miscarried our baby.
June 22, 2008 - George Carlin died.
July 19, 2008 - “LOVE” at the Mirage!
July 28, 2008 - Found out I was pregnant again.
August 6, 2008 - Saw our baby for the first time. She was a tiny little blip with a roaring heartbeat.
November 10, 2008 - Found out we’re having a girl!

What were your biggest achievements of the year?
Finding the strength to make it through the miscarriage and get pregnant again. Lily is already a huge accomplishment in and of herself.

What was your biggest failure?
I worry (and probably always will) that I somehow had something to do with the miscarriage. I also didn’t get nearly as many projects done as I would have liked.

Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Other than the miscarriage, I was pretty healthy.

What was the best thing you bought?
The Wii. Antibiotics.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Lily! She has been so strong this whole time. I’m amazed at how well she’s doing. So is my doctor! My husband also has been just amazing this year, helping me through some very difficult times for both of us.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I’ve had a year free of such feelings!

Where did most of your money go?
Bills. The Wii. The 72″ TV. Lily.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Seeing George Carlin live. Going to Arizona and Las Vegas. Seeing “LOVE”. Our 20-wk ultrasound.

What song will always remind you of 2008?
“Tattoo” by Jordin Sparks. It was playing in my car right after I found out there was a complication with my first pregnancy. I always think about my first baby when I hear it, but I don’t cry as much anymore because it also makes me think about Lily.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Definitely happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? I’ve got major bellyness going on!
iii. richer or poorer? We spent more money this year than last year (I think), but we also made more. We’re doing just fine!

What do you wish you’d done more of?
Scrapbooking
Journaling
Taking photos
Writing
Cuddling with my husband

What do you wish you’d done less of?
Crying
Being lazy

How will you be spending Christmas?
Christmas morning with hubby, mid-morning to early afternoon with in-laws, evening with my parents. Phew.

Did you send out Christmas cards this year?
No
I’ve been too busy thinking about NEXT Christmas to do such things! I barely remembered to buy presents!

Did you fall in love in 2008?
Yes. With Lily.

How many one-night stands?
None!

What was your favorite TV program?
I think this year I was hooked on “House”, “Stargate Atlantis”, “The Office”, and “Family Guy”.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nope! If anything, friendships have been improving!

What was the best book you read?
I didn’t read a lot this year, but what little I did read was all George Carlin.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
The soundtrack to “LOVE”.

What did you want and get?
To have a healthy pregnancy, to get a new TV, camera, and MP3 player, to decorate the house, to have another great year with my husband, to successfully pass another anniversary at work.

Nope.

Yes, for ultrasounds and blood tests earlier this year

Did you encounter the police?
Not in the typical sense. I see them often working where I work, though.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The usuals - Paul McGillion and John Krasinski.

Looking Ahead:

In the year 2009…

Will you be looking for a new job?
Nope!

Will you be looking for a new relationship?
Nope!

New house?
Nope!

What will you do different in 2009?
I will try to journal more and take more photos. Oh - and scrapbook. I’m way behind in that area.

New Year’s resolution(s)?
Nah…

What will you not be doing in 2009?
Wishing I was pregnant and wondering why I’m not.

Any trips planned?
California in June (wahoo!)

Wedding plans?
Nope!

What’s on your calendar?
Childbirth classes, OB appointments, Lily’s due in a few months, then California in June.

What can’t you wait for?
Lily! And VACATION!

What would you like to see happen differently?
I’d like to see myself get a little more consistent with the whole cooking and cleaning thing; I’d like to see us not let our house get so cluttered and messy. OH, and I also want to do better about caring for our potted plants this year.

What about yourself will you be changing?
Whatever I need to do to be the best mommy and wife I can be.

What happened in 2008 that you didn’t think would ever happen?
- I got pregnant.

Will you be nicer to the people you care about?
Sure!

Will you dress differently this year than you did in 08?
Oh, probably, considering the fact that I spent most of the last half of the year in maternity clothes!

Will you start or quit drinking?
Nope. I drink something maybe once a year, if that.

Will you have better relationship with your family?
I’d like to, but I’ve pretty much accepted things the way they are. Life’s too short to get stressed out over petty personality clashes that have existed for years and that will not change.

Will you do charity work?
I might, but I’ll admit I haven’t really made any plans to.

Will you go to bars?
Probably not, unless it’s a food stop.

Will you be nice to people you don’t know?
I try to be.

Do you expect 2009 to be a good year for you?
I’m very hopeful!

I like to think that I’ve become a bit more secure in myself and my relationships and friendships.

Do you plan on having a child?
Yep! Very soon!

Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now?
Oh, probably!

Major lifestyle changes?
Yes! I’ll be a mommy!!

Will you be moving?
Not a chance.

What will you make sure doesn’t happen in 2009 that happened in 2008?
I don’t know…

What are your New Years Eve plans?
Playing the Wii with the hubby until I crash.

Will you have someone to kiss at midnight?
If I don’t fall asleep, sure.

Wish for 2009:
Happy, healthy Lily!
