What was once Platte Jr. High School is now Platte Middle School. How this helps the kids, I'll never know. At any rate, I wanted to take pics as the buses were arriving at the end of the day. I would have liked to have pics without any people in them, but when there are buses there are kids so what can you do. Here are the results!
Here's a pic looking towards Baseline at the front of the school. You can see the middle school sign.
Here's the tree that was planted for the bicentennial celebration in 1976. It's gotten VERY big, and I wonder if they remember why it was planted.
Here's another picture of the front doors....
And another angle of the front doors...
Here's some kids waiting to be picked up by their mums and dads...
Here's the roofline of the auditorium, which always seemed to catch Sam's eye...
Here's the roofline over the gym, not quite as striking...the principal's office is just where there are verticle windows against red brick.
Buses actually pick kids up in the back of the school, lining up as you see here, right behind the gym. But because that didn't seem as interesting to me, I took some poetic license and moved the buses up front, which is where a lot of action takes place in the story, and includes the area where Sam's van drops him off each day. Incidentially, there IS a bank of windows beneath the gym, that look out over the back parking lot, you can't see those here, but I moved those too!
And here is a shot of the steps that lead outside from the doors next to the lunch room. Here is where Dean ate his half-mushed tuna sandwich.
