My, what a magnificent spectacle that fight against the General must have been! The Emperor's forces are every bit as strong as I remember them. I'm so pleased ( Read more... )

By all means, Major. Talk away.

Gaf Gafgarion, correct? Leader of my Battalion's new competitors. It's so nice to find people in the same line of work as us!

Tell me, just out of curiosity, what brings you and yours to this bloody business? There are certainly safer ways to earn a few Crowns, although perhaps not many so lucrative, and certainly none so enjoyable!

ooc: Interested in a mercenary-vs-mercenary fight?

What other path is there for a washed-up old knight? I expect I could turn a plow as well as the next man, but I prefer the feel of a blade in my hand.

And what of you, Major? What calls you to this line of work?

[OOC: Sure!]

For people like me... this is not work at all, Herr Gafgarion. This is life itself. The clash of steel upon steel, the cries of defiance and pain, the strategy and maneuver! This is the reason that I and my Battalion exist, this exquisite joy that we find upon the battlefield!

To put it in the simplest possible terms, most creatures fight for a reason, for a purpose- patriotism, revenge, the defense of innocent lives, or, in your case, coin. But there are some people in this world, certain unthinkably vile savages, for whom fighting requires no reason to justify it.

In other words, there are people like us.

ooc: I'll see which Millennium-muns are around, and then the Major will give his competitors a little visit. Where is the Legion camped out right now?

Every man has a hobby, I suppose. Fear not, Major, neither I nor my men are the type to judge your bizarre and frankly disturbing views on warfare. Keep to your business, and we shall keep to ours.

[The Legion's bumming for work in Ose, camped right outside the capital. If you want to start a log, I'll see if AF, Void, and Prof are on tonight.]

Oh, but I'm afraid that simply won't do. Our businesses just overlap far too much for us to simply ignore one another. No, I don't think that is going to happen. In fact, I think it's time to put you and your men to a little test!

We shall see you soon, Gaf Gafgarion. I look forward to learning which your Legion fights better for: coin or survival.

[I'll start a log in a few hours, then!]
