The Doctor had let her wander off into the overcrowded market in Shan Shen while he was preoccupied with something or other that one of the vendors was selling. She’d be fine exploring on her own for now.

Besides, Donna was a grown woman and could look after herself. She couldn’t possibly get into much trouble here. And it wouldn’t be too difficult to look around and spot her bright ginger hair among the masses of people there.

Only, when he did look up and scanned the area for Donna, she was nowhere to be seen. Now he’d gone and done it, lost her. All other emotions were left forsaken as panic overtook him in an instant; frantically he looked left and right for any sign of Donna.

It might have been helpful if only he could remember what she was wearing. He made a mental note to pay more attention to her attire and to Donna in general later.

He scurried through the crowd, glancing inside various tents and shops as he went by, careful not to knock anyone over in his haste. Still no sign of her. His uneasiness grew more and more by the minute.

Inside a Fortune Teller’s tent, he finally caught a glimpse of red hair that was undoubtedly Donna’s and breathed a sigh of relief.

The Doctor paused and made sure his initial state of panic was gone before he entered the tent. There was no need for Donna to know he was having an anxiety attack over temporarily losing her.

He strutted in calmly looking at Donna. Her eyes were focused downward, a strange expression on her face.

“Everything alright?”

Donna looked up at him and ran straight into his arms, enveloping him into a tight hug. He chuckled and returned the hug.

“What was that for?”

She stepped back to look at him. “I dunno,” she replied breathlessly, a smile now gracing her face, before she pulled him in for another breathtaking hug.

He held onto her just as tight, silently vowing to never let Donna out of his sight ever again.
