A mysterious velvet box sat outside her front door.
It appeared there the morning after her date with John, one of the most magnificent nights she’d ever experienced in her life. He had made her feel special that night, more than anyone else had ever done in a long time.
Now the fun was over and there she stood, in her bathrobe with messy hair, remnants of last night’s makeup, and an unexpected box at her feet.
She picked up the box, opened it and gasped. Inside lay the most perfect necklace, its white pearls shining as the light caught them.
There was a note with it, five simple words:
Thank you for last night.
That was all, but it meant the world to her.
