Now:

So obviously I'm new to this community. Today is a momentous day for me and my relationship. February 13th, 2009 was when my boyfriend, Loring, and I met. He lived in Rhode Island while I lived in California. It took us 8 months to see each other in real life. He was working at a Shakespeare festival in Utah so in September 2009, I flew to Vegas and we spent the night there then drove to southern Utah, where we were together for a week. After flying back home, I had no idea when I could see him again. I was invited to Rhode Island for Thanksgiving with his family. I had to quit my job to do it, but I went. I stayed there for 3 weeks. Again, after flying home, we had no concrete time of when we'd see each other again. He ended up flying to California in January 2010 for a week and stayed with my family. In May of 2010, after getting fired from my furniture store job on our anniversary, I flew out to Rhode Island again, this time, with intentions of staying. I got a very short lived nanny job in Massachusetts after two weeks of staying with him, but had to come back after being fired from that. June 1st, 2010, we both moved together to New York City because he was offered a spot in the summer conservatory at Stella Adler (a prestigious acting school where the likes of Robert De Niro have studied). We've both been living off the loan he got in hopes one or both of us would find a job in the city. If not, I'd have to fly back home in defeat to California and him back to Rhode Island. All for nothing. But, today my new friends, I got a job. A simple retail job at a clothing store in a mall, but I got a job. Which in turn means I can stay in NYC with my boyfriend.

After almost a year and a half of being together, we finally are officially going to permanently be together. No more hoping and praying that this whole crazy venture works out.

So I basically wanted to share this story because I've been in a LDR for so long, I thought I could give advice or just be someone to talk to about things if anyone is going through something similar! LDR can work out, and I'm proof of that!
