Goong

It's taken me forever but I'm finally watching Goong. I've had countless people tell me to watch it and despite my original attitude about the show (somehow I convinced myself that it would be crap) I buckled down and started to watch it the other day.

I really like it.

But I'm hesitant to watch more. I just finished watching the eighth episode but I'm starting to get that frustrated feeling I get after the first half of most dramas.

Watching two people struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other is common in dramas. It's the whole point of dramas. It works in most dramas that are the standard 12-16 episodes long.

I don't think I can stand 24 episodes of that.

Now, Goong could totally do a Coffee Prince or Flowers for My Life and actually have the two leads become involved and focus on that aspect of the relationship, but it's rather uncommon when it comes to dramas. (I've even seen people say that it's boring once the leads get together happily.)

And to add to my frustration I'm getting the typical the main guy is totally lame when you compare him to leading female's other love interest. And if we've learned anything from dramas it's that the nice guy either finishes last or twists into a bitter bastard.

k-dramas, drama : goong
