Lewis and I crawled into bed at about 4am last night, having just finished the painting/cleanup (or, at least, the majority of the cleanup - there are still some paint cans that need stored and the furniture isn't quite perfectly in place). Lewis figures he spent about 29 hrs painting. See, it was a room that had had dark wood panelling halfway up the wall. We painted the top part one color, the bottom part another, then the moulding on the top, middle, and bottom a third color. Do you have any idea what sort of taping that requires? I'll give you a number - 5 rolls. Then, of course, there were places where the paint got under the tape, so we (and I mean we - once we got to the less nozious latex paint, I started to help) ended up having to go back with tiny artists' brushes to even it all out afterwards. Groan...
But, anyway, it's done. And we really dig it.
I just feel sorry for Lewis. Unlike me, who can go back to bed now, he has a 9:30 class to teach (with 8am office hours, for which he is going to be half an hour late, because we slept through the alarm clock), then a noon class to TA for (which he has about 20 tests to grade before)... I've told him that he doesn't need to go with me to my OBGYN appointment today - he can come straight home, eat lunch, and crash.
