I think Lewis must be nesting...

Because of an attempt to fix some paint issues in our den yesterday (which resulted in making it worse), Lewis suddenly decided that it was finally time to get around to painting it the way we'd been wanting to (despite this really being a rather horrible academic time for both of us). Though I've gone in to help tape a few times while he's been priming, I've mostly been staying clear. Neither of us are sure exactly how many oil-based primer fumes I should be inhaling...

Poor kid. It's a giant room, half of which was covered in wood panelling (which means a LOT of trim that has to be brushed, rather than rolled). About halfway through primering he got really depressed. It was taking a LOT longer than he expected. He was regretting losing the wood panelling (for some reason he's still rather attached to the stuff, despite the fact that it ought to have died during the seventies - I think it's because his room growing up was entirely covered in the stuff). And it wasn't looking as good as he thought that it would.

However, he seems to have gotten a second wind. I think that the new paint will end up looking nice and sharp. In fact, our main problem will probably be that our '70s era Salvation Army furniture will no longer look so much at home...
