“Ryosuke, do you have everything?” Megumi asked, tilting her head.
“Mmhm,” the twenty year old hummed, nodding. “I’m just waiting for my ride.”
“Are you sure you want to be in this band? I mean, your dad has shown you how harsh that world can be. Are you really ready to deal with something like this?” The young man nodded.
“Yes Mom, I’ve been ready for longer then you realize.” He said, reassurance in his tone. Megumi smiled, as he kissed her cheek.
“Okay, later Mom.” He giggled, walking back into his room. He was about to move to L.A to record his first album…and he most likely wouldn’t come back home. The young rocker sighed deeply, sitting on his bed. I’m really going to miss this place. He thought, looking around his room. It’s been the same room for all of his life. Many changes came to it, but it was his sanctuary, his place to run to for comfort.
Something on his dresser suddenly caught his eye. A smile came to the young artist, as he walked towards it. A light blue blanket, was folded neatly…resting on top of it. It was faded and slightly dusty with age. Someone must have found it. Ryosuke thought with a sigh, as memories started forming into his mind.

“Ryo-chan, I have something for you.” Hyde said with a smile, kneeling before the toddler, his hands behind his back.
“What Daddy?” Ryosuke asked, getting excited. His father began to sing, a silly tune, pulling out a blanket. The child giggled, taking it into his arms. “Thank you Daddy!” he giggled, hugging him tightly. “I’m never going to put this down.”
“Hideto! Do you realize what you just started?!” Megumi asked, getting annoyed. “I just got him to stop carrying that raggedy teddy bear!”
“What does that have to do with anything?” The man asked, pouting.
“He’s going to take that everywhere and it’ll be hard to wash and-“ Hyde started playing with his son, ignoring her. “HEY!!”

Ryosuke was six years old, sitting under his blanket. He had a very bad cold and didn’t want to do anything but sit on his bed…and hide. “Ryosuke, what’s wrong? Are you upset?” Hyde asked from the outside. The boy shook his head. “Are you angry?” he shook his head again. “You don’t feel well?” Ryosuke didn’t answer, he just sat there. He always figured that his father was invincible and the idea of feeling sick would make him seem weak towards him.
“Ryo-chan, come out of there.” Hyde whined. “I can’t see what’s wrong if you don’t.”
“No,” he whined, shaking his head. The musician sighed heavily, before yanking the blanket from his head.
“Oh, you’re sick.” He mumbled, pouting. “Come here and let me take a look at you.”
“I’m not sick!” the child protested, shaking his head furiously. “I never get sick!”
“Kiddo, EVERYONE gets sick.” Hyde giggled, pulling him into a hug. “I even get sick.”
“No you don’t.” Ryosuke corrected. “You’re NEVER sick!”
“That’s not true, I was sick last month.” The small man corrected, patting his head. “I had the flu.”
“You didn’t look like it.” The boy mumbled, hugging him back.
“That’s because I know how to pretend nothing’s wrong. You shouldn’t do that…but with a job like mine, I have to do that sometimes.” Hyde explained.
“How come?” the child asked, staring up at him with questioning eyes.
“When you perform, you have to dedicate yourself to your fans. It’s not all the time they can see you, so to cancel a date for a cold makes you feel really bad…especially if you love what you do.” His father replied, running his fingers through his hair.
“Ooh.” The boy sighed, resting his head on his dad’s chest. “I want to be just like you Daddy.”
“Aww, you’re just saying that.” Hyde giggled.

Ryosuke was twelve years old, and he had a girl with him…in his room…sitting on his blanket. “Your dad gave this to you?” She asked, playing in his hair.
“Yes.” The preteen replied, giving her a sly smirk that matched his father’s so well. Thank you Dad for blessing me with the ability to get any girl I want….I think. The girl gave Ryosuke a smile, blushing slightly.
“That’s sweet of you to keep this…most guys would either throw their blanket away, or give it to someone else.” She giggled. The girl was very cute, and dressed the part. An innocent and yet short dress covered her thin body, her brown hair cut in a short, cute bob.
“My dad is very important to me, so everything he gives me I keep.” He explained, staring into her eyes. The girl took his face in her hands, and kissed him softly.
“Aaawww how cuuute.” A voice giggled suddenly. The young couple blushed, looking at Hyde, who was leaning against the door way. “Looks like you have my gifts huh Ryo-kun?”
“Where did YOU come from?” Ryosuke asked, blushing even more. Hyde shook his head, leaving the room. The preteen hid his face in his hands. Oh my GOD that’s embarrassing! That was my first kiss…and he SAW IT! I wanna die now….

Ryosuke shook his head at the memories, smiling warmly. Most of his fondest memories with that blanket, involved the man that gave it to him. Just as he was about to put it back, his cell phone rang. The young man quickly took it from his pocket and answered it. “Hello?”
“Hey Ryo-chan!” Hyde giggled, on the other end of the line.
“Hey Dad, how are you feeling?”
“I’m fine, just bored out of my mind.” The retired musician sighed, staring at his broken leg that just so happens to be in a sling. Depression washed over him…for more reasons then one. “I wish I could see you off, but well…you know. I’m very sorry about this-“
“Dad, was it your fault you got into that wreck?” Ryosuke asked.
“….No…I mean I wasn’t even driving.” Hyde replied, pouting.
“Then it wasn’t your fault…and you have nothing to be sorry about.” The young man declared, grinning.
“Oh yeah, I found your old blanket the other day,” His father mused, staring into space. “It brought many fond memories of you…I’m surprised it’s still completely whole.”
“So am I.” Ryosuke giggled.
“Oh you found it?” Hyde asked. “I…was going to kind of keep it…since you’ve grown out of it.”
“You want to keep my blanket?” his son asked, going wide eyed.
“You don’t want me to keep it?” Hyde asked, feeling slightly confused. “Are you really that attached to your blankie?”
“….NO.” The young rocker lied, blushing.
“I know that tone…you’re lying…AND you’re blushing.” The older man teased, smiling broadly.
“Nuh uh!” Ryosuke said firmly, shaking his head. His father giggled.
“You may have grown up, but I still see you as the little boy, hiding under his blanket.” Hyde said gently. “I know this must annoy you…but it’s true. “
“You’ll always be my silly dad, who used to play monster with me, hiding under my blanket.” Ryosuke giggled.
“Ah, I remember that…once Gacchan thought I was mad.” Hyde laughed, rubbing his cut up cheek.
“Well….if you really want the blanket, you can have it Dad.” The young man offered.
“….Naw, you can keep it.” Hyde said, smiling.
“I don’t want it.” Ryosuke said bluntly.
“Well neither do I….bye Ryo-chan.” His father said in a childish voice, making the young man squirm. “The nurse is in here to give me a sponge bath….aren’t you nurse Gacchan?”
“Shuddup!” The younger man snapped, regretting ever becoming a nurse, after retiring from music.
“Bye Dad…and tell Gacchan I said ‘hi’.”
“Will do,” Hyde giggled, before hanging up.
Just as soon as he hung up his phone, Ryosuke got a call.
“Hello?” he asked, tilting his head.
“Ryo-kun, I’m here to pick you up!” his band mate giggled. “I’m right outside.”
“Alright, I’ll be right down.” The young man said, before hanging up. He started to rush out the room…when he turned around…and picked up his blanket….then stuffed it in his backpack.
Might as well keep it…it’s mine after all. He thought, picking up the rest of his luggage, before rushing out the door.
This feels so unfinished somehow...but I can't figure out why. O.o Oh well. ^.^ This was for the list 'o doom challenge.
