So I went to Melani on Friday. That was just one of the things on my list of things to do. I had a 9am meeting with Anthony and Joel concerning the yearbook, the layout, pictures, etc. That lasted a little over an hour. I then went to drop of my MGSC 1206 homework (due every Friday at 12 noon). From there, I went and got something quick to eat. I had a 1:30pm meeting at the Career Centre in SMU's SUB. The centre isn't quite finished yet. They're planning on getting new (very nice, comfortable, bistro-style) furniture in the next week or so. The centre won't really be up and running for another 2-3 weeks. I can't wait to start working there. I'm volunteering at the centre this year which really only requires 5 hours per week (including one meeting hour). Just for general information purposes, this school year I am also volunteering with Junior Achievement, the Canadian Cancer Society, a member of ACE and the Caribbean Society, and working on getting another society up and running. Additionally, I've got a column in The Journal, and I'm hoping that my email with my application for an editor position didn't get lost somewhere because I haven't heard anything from Leah which is COMPLETELY insane since I have quite an impressive resume. Anyway, back to the topic...
I had a 3:45pm appointment with Melani which I got o a few minutes early. We decided on a violet/red colour for my hair. Instead of the originally planned extra lightening, we just went with what I already had in my hair and layered on the violet/red colour. The pre-lightened sections from last time are extra purple and those pieces kind of pop out which is AWESOME! I LOVE the result. I can't wait to get my digital camera and take some pictures. I was talking to Jaymee today about random things, and one of our topics was our hair and what we want to do with it. I was telling her that (lol) I can see myself becoming one of those hair fanatics, always changing my colour and style now. I've always been prety blah with my hair. Only once in my life have I ever put highlights in my hair, and that was back when it was relaxed. I loved it, but never did it again, for no reason, really. I realized how much I hate hair and taking care of it, so I cut it all off. I left about an inch of natural, curly, dark hair. I was kind of skeptical at first, but after about a day I was LOVING it. It both grew on me, and got me lots of compliments which were major (much-needed) boosts of self-esteem. My hair is now growing out and is getting to that point where I really can't do anything with it. I just have a head full of intense (beautiful) curls that don't end up looking so great simply because I hate hair and dealing with it. I simply wet it in the shower, throw on a full headband, put on some moisturizer and run around everyday with my hair looking the same. This whole hair changing in one week thing is kind of addictive. I love that I changed it suddenly on some whim/impulse. I love that it changes my whole look. I love that people do a double take, and I can tell they're thinking, wasn't her hair such-and-such a colour yesterday?! Hahaha. Maybe I'm getting a little vain. I've always had a little vanity about me, but it takes alot for it to come out. I must say, I like the confidence that emerges every now and then. Anyway, all this to say my hair ROCKS, and I can't wait to come up with some new idea! I actually already plan to have it straightened (by flat iron) in about a month, and style by Melani. I KNOW it'll be gorgeous, and VERY different! Love it, love it! I'm going to make that appointment with her on Monday. As for the treatments it takes to keep my not-so-natural-anymore hair looking and feeling healthy and beautiful and my colous looking vibrant, I'm getting started on that on Oct. 5. I've already made an appointment with Michael, my regular hair professional for a treatment. I'm going to have to do it more regularly now. Before I just did it like every 2-3 months. Oh well... price paid for beauty.
Tomorrow I have an interview for the Residence Disciplinary Committee. I'd planned to read the residence handbook, just in case there was a mini-pop-quiz or anything, but haven't gotten around to it. The time for my appointment is 1pm, so hopefully I'll get around to rolling out of my bed by 11am, giving me about an hour to look online for a pdf of the thing and give myself an interview in my head with possible questions. I like being prepared for anything, and giving myself mock interviews. I feel more confident when I at least THINK I know what's coming. Anyway, hopefully I'll do well. This will be a pretty nice addition to my resume, and the $300 can go with the $700+ on my student account to pay for one summer course. Then I could start stressing about paying for the next one, and the 4 months of rent. Yeah... It is going to be a busy year. That said, I think it is about time I go and brush my teeth, and head to bed. I'm out!
