Haul & Quick Review: Dior Constellation 864 Couture Color Eyeshadow Palette

Aug 11, 2013 11:48

The second palette for Dior's fall Mystic Metallics Collection is Constellation, a purple themed quint with stars embossed on 4 of the 5 shades. Like the first palette, I was suckered in because of the stars embossing. But I have enjoyed most of the Dior palettes that I have bought and I find purple eyeshadows usually work well on me, so I had to pick it up.

Constellation is housed in the usual Dior quint packaging - plastic, blue, with 2 sponge tip applicators that I don't use but can be quite useful on the go. It's very lightweight and has 6g of product. It's so stunning in the packaging that I can stare at it all day!

The palette include a dark shimmery plum with micro silver flecks, a satin purple, a frosty platinum gold, a pale satin mauve and a light opalescent pink. Most of the colors are very pigmented and buttery smooth, except for the pink shade which feels quite dry and doesn't apply opaque.

Like most Dior palettes, this does have pretty good lasting power - with a primer, it stays on all day and looked pretty much unchanged at the end of the workday. I didn't get any fall out at all with this palette and I'm very pleasantly surprised - I had thought that the platinum gold shade would have at least some fall out, but there was none.

In all, I do like this palette but I find it quite similar to a few purple palettes that I already own. Between this and Bonne Etoile, I like the latter more as I think the colours are a bit harder to dupe with better pigmentation, although Constellation does have less fall out and requires less effort to work with. I don't regret getting this palette at all though - I think it's a beautiful palette and if you don't own many purple shades, then this would be really great!
