Hi everyone! A quick review today of a moisturizer/base that I have been loving!
Description from Bobbi Brown's website:
"A Bobbi Brown Best-Seller. Bobbi recommends this as the first step to prepare skin for the smoothest makeup application. Rich in feel, but never greasy, this advanced oil-free, face formula, with Shea Butter, instantly hydrates, softens, and cushions skin. Carrot Extract and Vitamin A Complex help minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamins C and E help protect against environmental damage. Grapefruit and Geranium fragrances leave a light, uplifting scent on skin. With daily use, skin looks and feels its best. Dermatologist-tested."
I've been using this rather religiously - every morning before makeup, to prep my skin. I'm actually not too sure what "face base" means, but I use it as a moisturizer, and was recommended by the MA at Bobbi Brown's counter as such too. I am almost done with the entire bottle, so I thought it was time to write something about it!
I think I paid about S$80 for this 50ml tub, which is pretty pricey to me. It did last a very long time for me; I have been using it for couple of months and there's still quite a lot in the tub. I don't like the packaging though - tubs are bad enough already, but ones that have a broader base than the opening? Urgh.
I love the texture - it feels creamy, but instantly "melts" and absorbs into the skin, dries down very quickly to give a smooth finish and gives my skin some much needed hydration. It might be wishful thinking, but I feel like my skin looked instantly smoother and plumper. It's definitely not oily to me, but I do have dry skin so I cannot say if it will feel oily for other skin types. I think it preps the skin amazingly for foundation; I always feel that my foundation goes on smoother when I am using this and does not make my foundation slide off even under the hot sun like other moisturizers do. It is quite heavily scented, so I think some people might not like it; I love the citrus scent.
I don't use this at night because I don't feel like it gives enough moisture, and there's something about it being called a "face base" that stops me from using it as a night time skincare regime. It makes me think that it is more makeup than skincare, but I am weird like that.
Will I repurchase? Most likely; I really enjoyed using this in terms of texture, smell and effectiveness. Thumbs up!
