Review: Essence You Rock!, Revlon Just Bitten, Maybelline Color Sensational

Hello everyone, today I am reviewing 3 different lipstains! I thought it would be fun to mix a review with a comparison, so we can see how other lipstains are like, since lipstains appear to be an rising trend versus lipsticks. I don't like reapplying lipstick throughout the day, so lipstains sounded like a great idea to me.

I already have rather pigmented lips, so for a lipstain to work for me, it has to at least make a healthy difference to my natural lip colour, but it doesn't have to scream "look at me". It also must not dry out my lips, because I do have naturally dry lips that peels quite easily.

I have to apologise first because out of the 3, 1 is limited edition, and the other two can only be found in the US. To make things worse, my favourite has to be the unattainable limited edition item!

Please pardon the blue eyeliner, I was having some swatch fun.

From top to bottom:
  • Essence You Rock Lipstain in Your Pink is on Fire is a limited edition lipstain from Essence' You Rock! collection. I really like this, because it goes on pigmented, and while it does not moisturize my lips, it is not drying. It's very easy to apply, and the tip is fat enough to colour the whole lip area in a few swipes. The staying power is pretty good, for a good few hours. This is my favourite out of the three.
  • Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Midnight is also very pigmented, and goes on really easily. However, it also dries extremely quickly, so fast that you can't even smudge it but smacking the lips together so it goes on patchy if it is it not fully drawn in. While the balm at the end is convenient, it's not a great balm because it doesn't feel very moisturizing. The staying power is also pretty good.
  • Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain in In the Buff is the least pigmented of the three, and needed a few swipes to get a good stain. I would say this has the lowest staying power, and was barely visible within 1-2 hours so it does not work as a stain. It's also rather drying. I will not recommend this.
Speaking of lipstains, I can't wait to try the new Revlon Balmstains that I keep seeing on all the beauty blogs! It just sucks that in Singapore, we get all these new and exciting products way later than the US, and sometimes not at all.
