Alright. Best Valentines day Ever.
We told eachother we weren't going to do anything for Valentines day. And we weren't. We're going on a romantic getaway at the end of the month...partially because we're saps and we want to celebrate our 6 month ani, and partially (mostly,r eally) because we desperately need to get away from everything. We got a great 2 story hotel room suite in door with a 2 person whirlpool, a fireplace, a full kitchen, cable television, and upstairs balconey and a downstiars patio...yeah. It's pretty fantastic.
So, we figured We'd be completely justified not doing anything for Valentinesd day.
like a fool, I believed him.
and I came home to Roses on my pillow, the apartment cleaned, and the bed beautiful and invititng. He rented "the noteook" becuase it's sappy and I had expressed interest. (he also rented the second season of Arrested Development...Yay!)
All I'm going to say about last night was that it was amazing. A really fantastic reminder of who I married, and why. we had some really fantastic discussions, and it was nice to just sit there and be....least stressful day ever.
I'm sorry to everyone else to feels crappy about yesterday. I can relate. My vakentines days have been mostly sucky. It definately IS just a hallmark holiday. But I think Nick had the right idea. V-day isn't just about romantic love between lovers, it's about appreciating the love you have in all of your relationships.
One of the things my parents did correctly over the years is take time for ach of us on valentines day. We each got a box of choolates (and some extras of our own personal favorites) some small gifts, and a very personal card written by both our mother and father, and we felt loved.
Now, they should have paid more attention to eacother on valentines day, but hey- who am I to judge the marital dynamics between my biological parents?
Anyway. I wish Everyone a happy valentines day next year. Single or not.
