New Year's Resolution

Dec 31, 2008 20:33

I feel like the last year of my life, I let some things slide. Important things. So my resolution this year is to write. I resolve to have written my book by the end of the year. And no cramming it in in the last month either, I learned my lesson in autobiography class. Write the majority of a 40 page piece in one night, it's bound to have some bad pages. So, I resolve to write 25 pages a month, for a round 300 by end of year. (I've always believed in writing too much and cutting it down after.)

I resolve to dance once a week. Drive to Boston, check out RI, I don't care. But I'd better be grooving. Shouldn't be too hard with Boston Swing Central every Friday night in Cambridge. (Gordon and Brianna on the 16th!) And 4th Saturdays of the month are Blues Cafe in Medford. I want to take Tango lessons on Sundays (starting Jan 25th). I want to work on my Blues lead. And I want to stop looking at the floor! I should also check out Swingtime Boston, the LBGT swing/ latin/ ballroom dance. Next dances are Jan 3rd and Feb 7th. Sounds like a good time to pull out my Westie moves from back in the day, when we Lindy bombed the monthly "swing" dance.

I resolve to keep up old friendships and write letters. I resolve to let everyone know where I am and what I'm doing. I resolve to write letters to Dan all the way up to November, when I won't have to write letters anymore. I resolve to write him a letter in November anyways.

I resolve to volunteer for AIDS Project Worcester.

It's going to be a tough year, but a good one. As much as I pretend to be a slacker, I'm much happier getting things done.
