annoying puppy

It was annoying, really, and yet all Jisook could do was sigh and roll her eyes. She was in a foul mood as she packed after a day of filming while Sungjong was standing at the door, peering in shamelessly with a boyish smile on his lips. She glared at him.

“Yah, what are you doing over there??” she snapped, having the urge to throw something at him. Sungjong just shrugged with a smile.

“I’m not doing anything,” he said innocently in that youthful, uncracked voice of his. He crossed his arms and casually snuggled on the door frame. “I just like standing here.”

The Rainbow member rolled her eyes again; he did the dumb act quite well and he knew that was exactly what got under her skin. She tried to ignore him and bundled up her sweater in her small arms, turning to the door where Sungjong was still standing. His smile and gaze was completely unaffected despite the intense glare she was shooting him. Jisook blew up her cheeks and narrowed her eyes into slits.

“Why do you keep staring?” she exclaimed. “Do you like me?”

“Yes,” Sungjong replied brightly, and it caught Jisook off-guard. She flushed a shade of red, sputtering out half-words in her speechlessness. She quickly averted her gaze and pretended to fix her hair, all in the while ignoring his unwavering stare.

“Whatever,” she grumbled, trying to sound casual and play it off. Jisook cleared her throat, determined not to look like she was embarrassed, especially to a bratty kid who was still going through puberty.   She picked up a few more of her things until she couldn’t hold any more, barely able to stand properly, before she trotted over to Sungjong and shoved all of it into his arms, much to his surprise. He blinked and stared questionably, albeit patiently, at her. She huffed.

“If you like me, then help me,” she said toughly with a glare. She poked his skinny arm with a pointed finger. “A man should be able to do that, right?”

Sungjong stood and stared a little longer with upmost bafflement until he managed an amused laugh. Jisook leered at him and moved to the door without a word.

“Hurry up,” she nagged, waving her hand for him to come over as she turned the handle and pulled the door ajar. Sungjong was having some trouble keeping the things from falling out of his arms, not paying attention much and not looking like he was going to be able to carry them all out himself. Jisook sighed and marched over to him, grabbing his wrist. He looked up with surprised doe eyes, and Jisook puffed up a cheek in annoyance. “Come on.”

And then she started dragging him to the door in the manner of a mother with a wayward child, before Sungjong took advantage and turned his hand so that hers fell into his palm before he closed his fingers securely around it. Jisook stopped and looked down at their hands, now interlocked without her realizing, and she gave him a quizzical look. Sungjong shrugged.

“Wae?” he piped in an innocent voice, glancing between their hands and Jisook’s face. “We might as well hold hands if you’re going to be like that, nuna.”

Jisook screwed up her forehead in a frown, but fell for the endearing way he called her nuna and relented from yelling at him again. She released her hand and decided to just go ahead first without him, only to be held back when Sungjong didn’t let go. She tried shaking him off, but it didn’t work. He smiled angelically.

“If I’m going to carry all your stuff, you have to hold my hand,” he told her. Jisook scoffed; despite how young his voice still was, it sounded almost like a demand.

“It takes 2 minutes to get to the exit,” she complained, putting the little fist of her free hand on her hip in protest. She still refused to hold his hand, and in return he refused to release it back to her. “Why are you being so immature? Are you a puppy, following me around all day?”

“Do you like puppies?” Sungjong asked cutely, giving her another smile. Jisook stared at him blankly.

He wasn’t even trying yet she knew she wasn’t going to win against him. The Rainbow member sighed, feeling exhausted already, so she decided to just give up.

“Fine,” she mumbled. “Let's just go now, okay?” She turned her hand around and returned the grip, earning a sparkling smile from the Infinite member. She wrinkled her nose in distaste at him before she turned to the door, stepping out of the dressing room with Sungjong attached to him.

To her surprise, she heard the door snap shut behind them. Jisook glanced over her shoulder at him, finding him standing upright with ease as opposed to all hunched and trying to keep his own weight under the load of her belongings. He didn’t seem to have any trouble now, he was even holding it all in just one arm that he could even use his hand to close the door. Sungjong was a little startled when he realized Jisook was watching him, but he just smiled breezily again.

“Shall we go?” he said casually, motioning their locked hands towards the hall. Despite herself, Jisook let out a disbelieving laugh and stood speechless again as Sungjong took charge and started leading her away towards the exit.
