JACK BROOKS: MONSTER SLAYER

Is exceedingly enjoyable. Finally watched my copy.

And immediately watched ALL the features and then played it again with commentary while sketching.

It's truly incredible what they accomplished on a very small budget. And all practical and make-up effects. No CGI whatsoever. Their personal choice.

Thematically it was Hellboy meets Tetsuo: The Iron Man with liberal dashes of Evil Dead and Dead Alive. And a tiny touch of Troma. With PILES of gore and slapstick comedy. Even the hokey stuff works well.

Also the greatest role I've probably ever seen Robert Englund play. Certainly the greatest since the heyday.

Which is a good overall review: It's one of the best monster movies since the mid 80s.

The ending leaves it open to be a franchise and really it's one of the few horror/horror comedies that SHOULD have sequels. Watch it...you'll see why.
