thank you lovecallinearth for alerting me of this whatthefuckoozalah!!!
i literally stopped in midchew of my kit kat bar while reading this. how could they do this to us!!! ahhhhhh! what upset me most is that i can already see b2k "beating" gamblerz in an all out battle in the end of the movie, and then all the little teeny boppers/ignorant fans saying "zomgz, see! b2k is better than gamblerz. USA! USA! USA!". when we all know in a fair fight the gambroz will smoke em like reefer.
first off, didn't b2k break up like years ago? wth are they doing together now? second, why must they perpetuate the asian triad gangsta drugs sex mafia bullshit? my lord i used to sit and think over the breakup of expressions crew. i know one ex-member said something about "losing the underground touch to commercialism". gamblerz are far from selling out, but they are too good for this u got served azn style movie. i am very sad =(((((((((((
lol "most of you kids can only slightly toprock with personality let alone act".
muahahahahahahahahahahahaha, every man must have his achilles heel i suppose. i think that's why i'm so fond of hong 10, cause his top rock against machine (who's top rock os one of the best) was actually superb. oh i'm seeing supreme soul in canada next week! since all the students for biomed have to attend a conference/forum thingy at some conference center in toronto.
It's already been discussed and a lot of bboys seem to think it will end the way you called with B2K winning in the end since it's an American film. What no one can understand is how they are even gonna pull that coming across on film...even WITH body doubles. You can't just call up any similar looking African American breaker and expect him to come off beating The End.
I know Darkness left be he officially felt out of touch with dancing. And I'm not gonna point and call Gamblerz sellouts because it's a weird industry where some disciplines of dancing (like ballet) are meant to be on a world stage, but others like breaking are supposed to keep it street. They're totally allowed to make money, but GAH like this. This plot makes me feel dirty and somehow think those boys got dubbed. They don't come off as that vapid and in it for the money. Like they were told this will help you break America and get your word out to the place where bboy originated. *sigh* I'm not even gonna lie I will probably see it.
We were watching some videos early in the week of something and Sick came out to do his toprock. This event was probably last year or so cause he still had the dreads, but he totally threw in the dice move. We were all 'wait...what...0_o'
Steal RJ for us all. I'm seriously debating on going to the NYC ABDC show if it's well priced just to see Jabba and SS do their own thing instead of those ridiculous challenges...and stare at RJ.
Oh this was sent to me about two or three weeks ago:
Probably one of the best articles on American's shore that's been written about the phenomenon. I seriously can't believe that the way Gamblerz seems to carry themselves in it, and in their battles, that they somehow thought this movie would be a wise idea. Someone had to have influenced them. I'll keep telling myself that atleast.
ia with everything you wrote. when i read "collaborating with the gamblerz crew" i knew what they really meant was having the boys hand out their best moves. i guessing the movie crew won't be opposed to using wires, cgi effects or fake body parts to be able to recreate some of the moves that gamberz do.
that article was effin awesomesauce, i added it to my favorites by the end of the first page. your like one of my bboy sources (besides my flatmate) now that i'm back to uni and i have to cut off my bboy/girl friends again lol.
yeah, the supreme soul thing was $5 canadian dollars so i thought why not, i praying i can make it and the conference doesn't run for too long. i'm totally gonna stalk/fangirl rj kool raul and bionic man lol.
red bull is comin soon! buts its gonna be held in france, which means lilou is gonna win. bleh.
I totally just realized that ABDC tour is literally less then a month away and so far all they have listed is Jabba and Break skate (and I assume super crew)...for 60 dollars. I would pay 60 for Jabba, Kabba, and SS, but I REFUSE to give any form of currency to support break skate.
Ugh, how can they not even announce the other spots yet? I know RJ said he really hoped they would pick them, but if they're performing in Canada will they be able to make it back for the start of the tour on the 18th? I'm leaning toward...I will not be participating in this event.
I'm gonna hold out hope Gamblerz will be force to do some kind of ridiculous promotional performances stateside for their dance mafia movie. One good thing that may come of this.
SS and kaba will most likely not be on tour, which sucks tbh.
gamblerz will probably be snubbed or backburned for promo activities, like what speed racer promo directors did to rain. this is so crap please let this project fall through, i can't bear to see my boys be done wrong by chris stokes and b2k.
tbh, i hate these kinda movies where the "ghetto" boys reclaim what's theirs. there is such a territorial feel to it and imho a bit racist. an all black crew against an all korean crew? even when koreans have been owning the bboy scene for at least a decade, but the all black boy band will win? wtf? i wish they would mix em up. i would even be a tad more accepting if b2k had met some up and coming korean bboys who want to take down gamblerz and ultimately teamed up with them. still horrible but a bit more realistic.
More then a few people have pointed out that it's basically marginalized minority vs. marginalized minority. ESPECIALLY because most American bboy crews seem to be extremely mixed in variety. There's always ATLEAST one Asian or Latin person of decent mixed in with every crew. It's just a really weird stance to take, not with standing its obvious Korean crews are literally all Korean, that a group from America would be so one dimensional racially at this point. In the 80s...yes, now...not so much.
I'm willing to be the "legendary bboy" that is listed in the synopsis is black too. It literally is one race against another at that point.
Which is slightly disturbing because not only does the film throw both of them into a mafia/ghetto set up, but I have a feeling its gonna play up inner city CA vs. "KOREA", yes Korea in all caps and quotes, as a concept. Kinda like people do with "TOKYO" or "HONG CONG". A recent trend in society (yeah I'm lookin at you Murakami) that REALLY irks me. Mostly due to the horrific generalized stereotypes that go along with it.
---They wouldn't let Rain do press for his movie? Well hopefully it had something to do with his character not being a singer and Gamblerz whole bit is ZOMG AZIANZ DANCIN, so they have to dance.
My roommate worked or volunteered or something sophmore year of college for his promotional company when he tried to invade the us. Didn't seem to work so well for him. I can't wait till Seven comes out and he's all ghetto fabulous on his album and then people realize it's a tiny asian man produced by Darkchild.
I don't really know much about Rain other then I'm not really impressed and my little sister likes Seven better. Then again my little sister once through a News album at me and told me it was good. I love Perfume...but never EVER News.
