"Are you feeling better?"
"...Huh?"
Certainly coming as a surprise, Yuri looked over to the side, there standing the white-haired so-called enemy of hers. Angel -- no, Kanade-chan stood there with a blank look on her face, but Yuri could notice that there was a slight sense of worry and concern. She wasn't stupid, and she wasn't blind. She noticed these types of things.
She bit her lip, and then sighed. "A bit better, I guess. Pain doesn't last too long in this world -- "
"...Your memories, I meant," interrupted Kanade, subtly shifting her weight from one foot to another and frowned. "Do you... Feel better about it?"
Yuri wasn't quite sure how to answer this, and so a pregnant silence was embraced in the infirmary room as she sat there in bed. Her memories... Her siblings, their deaths.
Did she feel better? She wasn't quite sure.
Though she received forgiveness, and she cried for so long afterwards, did she feel better?
"I... I think so," she breathed out, almost inaudible.
And then, without much sound to be made, there was a weight on Yuri's head, and she closed an eye and flinched on instinct.
"Good," Kanade murmured, smiling ever so slightly and patting Yuri's head softly.
Yuri would have never expected for the Angel to be headpatting her. This, too, came as a surprise.
Noticing her silence, Kanade lifted her hand and pulled it back to her side. "Was that... not good? Otonashi-kun does it to me but perhaps it wasn't as satisfactory?"
"No! -- no, it wasn't bad. It... It was just uncalled for," there was a slight flush of heat on Yuri's face, and she wasn't certain if it was from that sudden act of intimacy or if it was just her and her weak body now. Either way, Yuri knew it was certain that this was definitely not the Angel she assumed to be when she first came to this world.
The change, though, was good, and Yuri hoped that Kanade would stay like this, as her ally -- as a friend -- forever.
On impulse, she reached up and laid her hand on Kanade's head as best as she could from her sitting position, and smiled gently.
"Thank you, Kanade-chan. I feel a lot better."
