Summary: In which Haruhi inquires about Kyon's beliefs.

A day like no other. Just a simple day -- normal, average, usual, not weird, not extraordinary, just ordinary. Such was the case of the every day life of well, me.
... Yeah, right.
After meeting Suzumiya Haruhi? It's become the complete opposite.
It's everything but simple, ordinary, average, usual, not weird, and unextraordinary.
Life isn't as good as people say it is.
"Hey, Kyon."
That right there, my friends, is the voice of Haruhi. Haruhi's voice is something you really don't want to mess with. Especially if it's as sharp and direct as it was just now.
"What?" is my usual response to her, because whatever Haruhi says is usually not the most sensible thing in the world.
"Do you believe in God?"
Did she just ask me if I believed in God?
I'm not sure how to answer this, I mean, it's a pretty random question, don't you think?
But when I turn to look at Haruhi, she's sitting at her desk with this... This look on her face. A bit bored, a bit lifeless, as if she's given up. On finding aliens? Time travelers? ESPers? The unknown? What is it that she's given up on?
These thoughts bring me back to the question at hand -- do I believe in God? With what Koizumi, Nagato, and Asahina tell me, shouldn't 'God' be right in front of me?
But is Haruhi God? I don't know. Koizumi, Nagato, and Asahina say otherwise, but...
"It depends," is what I come up with as my final answer. It took a while to say it, and really, it probably wasn't the answer Haruhi was looking for.
"I see," is all she says in reply. Someone's unusually quiet today.
I look at her, frown a bit, and sigh. "What about you?" I ask in return, because if Haruhi is going to ask questions, I should ask some back. It only makes sense, right?
Haruhi only takes a split second to spout out her answer; frankly, I'm not surprised.
"Of course I do! If I didn't, then I won't be able to see aliens, time travelers or -- "
"ESPers, I know. I get it."
Somehow, I can't really help but laugh a bit at her answer. Haruhi is Haruhi after all, and what she says and does can be pretty predictable, if you've been with her for a while.
