-risk her life (that's how I got to the place)
-spend $50 on the actual ticket
-buy $10 worth of food only to throw it away at the entrance
-spend hundreds of dollars to replace a camera that was lost/stolen
-lose her credit card (which had uh, $300 bucks on it)
-lose her mirror, comb, and eyeshadow (and I don't know what happened to my ticket stub, either)
-inhale large quantities of smoke from Austin smokers
-inhale large quantities of dust (so much, I couldn't stop coughing for a long time).. hey,
I wasn't the only one!
-be sweaty and dirty (from the dust and 102 degree heat.. no joke)
-be touched by sweaty people around her
-buy a Pepsi for $2 just because I was really thirsty
-miss Eisley, Jason Mraz, and most of Franz
And in the end, for all of my pains, I have just one picture to show you:
(And if you need help knowing just how much of Coldplay fan I am, I suggest you look at my LJ title and subtitle. *points above to the big text*)
5:00 - I wake up, and Sal tells me that he's with Norma, unable to hang out with me because he's at ACL. And I'm jealous. So he tells me to get my ass over to ACL. I tell him that tickets are all sold out, and he's like, "Nuh uh."
5:20 - I sprint out of bed and get ready in the fastest speed possible.
5:40 - I call the Capital Metro, only to be told that I have to get onto 7 different buses just to get downtown, where I'll have to take another bus to Zilker.
6:20 - The so-called "bus" has not arrived. I get frustrated. And walk the other direction 'cause I know that there's some buses in that general direction.
6:40 - After asking 20 different people which bus to take to get to Barton Springs/Zilker and no one knowing, I'm about ready to cry 'cause Franz Ferdinand most definitely started performing 10 minutes ago. And I hate the lady that told me to get on 7 different buses and told me to go in the wrong direction for the 1st bus. 'Cause that is most definitely not the way to do it.
7:00 - I arrive at ACL *points to dash #1* with a ticket that I'd bought for $50. I give the admissions guy the ticket, and he tells me that I either eat my $7.00's worth of Poptarts and sandwich, or I toss it. I toss the sandwich ('cause I'd eaten one right before I left), and I eat 2 chocolate Poptarts in <2 minutes. Flat.
7:10 - I cover over half of the festival field in <5 minutes to the SBC stage where Franz is performing. I finally make it to the front, and I see Vanessa Nerring! She invites me to sit down with her, and I'm about to.. until I open my purse, and a camera, credit card, and makeup are definitely not there.
7:20 - I run across the field once more, in panic, to the ticket place. And they have no clue where the stuff is. So I file a claim with the lost & found. (psht, like someone's actually gonna return that loot)
7:25 - I head back over to the Franz stage, only to hear them sing the last 2 minutes of their last song. Boo.
7:45 - I call Sal and ask him and Norma to meet me at the ticket center.
7:50 - Some 30-40 year old guy comes up to me and says, "How's it going, good lookin'?" O_O; CREEP! And I resist the urge to punch him.
8:05 - Sal and Norma finally arrive. We chat for a while and shout "LEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYY JEEEEEENNNNNKKKKIIIIINNNNNS" as we enter the throng of fans.
8:15 - After much pushing, we finally get to a place where we can get a decent view of the band.
8:20 - There's clapping as the band seems to set up their equipment.
8:25 - 60,000 fans scream. A British flag waves in the distance.
8:30 - Coldplay strums the first chord to White Shadows.
And the crowd goes insane. I screamed so loud, I couldn't even recognize my voice after a while.
Among the songs that they played were: Yellow (where a bunch of big yellow balloons were thrown up into the sky), Square One (my hands are amongst the many waving in the air), The Scientist, Politik, What If?, and Talk. I, of course, sang along all of those. ^_^ I actually pushed far enough to where I could see the band members on stage! (The guy's head looked about 1 cm in diameter.) It was thrilling, every time I could catch a glimpse of the singer (Chris Martin) and guitarists.
When they started playing Speed of Sound, the entire sky lighted up with the stage lights. And the volume is turned up so that the music is throbbing inside of you. amazing
Then they played a song for Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire), followed by Clocks, the "last" song. Well, of course the crowd wouldn't have it that way, so after about 5 minutes, Chris Martin comes back onstage and plays another song.
And then something incredible happens. He says, "Now, I'm too far right now." And he walks into the crowd. He's on the scaffold, singing, amongst deafening screams (I was one of them), and he's about 10 yards away from me. He's sitting on the scaffold, so I can't see anything other than his ass and his shoes. ^^; but that's ok!
He goes back to the stage, and plays one more song. Fix You. By this time, I don't really have a voice anymore from all the screaming/inhalation of dust/singing, but I jump around some and wave my arms anyway. ^^;
And I'm ready to melt into a puddle of joy and die 'cause I'm having a damn good time.
At about 9:45, Coldplay really finishes and throws some souvenirs out and bows. Wow, you have never heard a crowd scream so loud. Imagine all of UT, gathered in one tight, compact group, screaming. Yep. Something like that.
Sal, Norma, and I walk back to Sal's sister's car, and we pass Lee! (So Chujiao, tell Hassan that I saw her son at ACL Fest.) We go to Sal's sister's apartment so that Sal and Norma can pick up their stuff, and Norma drives me back to UT. ^_^
I'm still frustrated over the camera and credit card thing, so I mope around for a while, asking if anyone knows of a place that sells digi cams and/or can take me to Wal-mart, and no one really does, so I'm going tomorrow.
I come out of my room at around 1, and I have a nice little chat with David and Chantal in the hall. David's from Westlake! .. so we talked a little about James (Lin) and Sophia.. and Amy. And apparently some guy named Robert Hughes or something got into Stanford 'cause he got Condoleezza Rice to write him a letter of recommendation! o_O; Dang, this guy has connections! And we talk about AP scores, the way our school is, and music. I told him about "got Wood?", keeping your privates out of public (in CS), and the pinus (in bio). ^^; And he tells me that most of his school is drugged up. lol.
I got added on Facebook twice "yesterday". And 5 times "today". I feel so popular and loved. :D
So you'll have to excuse me while I'm in this Coldplay obsession mode for about a week or 2.
These aren't mine.. I took these off of publications. I'll upload the ones that Sal took as soon as his sister E-mails them to him (and therefore, to me!) :D
