First went to my EE 302 class, where I got really frustrated and pissed 'cause one of my teammates makes it sound like I don't do any work in there, when in fact, I programmed the last 2 robots.. and he just sat there hogging the computer, pretending but not knowing how to do any of it.
Anyway.. then I ate a quick lunch and met Tammy and her friends to go to the Frank Erwin Center together. (Marc was one of her friends.. Marc Cayabiyab! I haven't seen him since MITES last summer. Ahhh.. he's so well-connected: he knows friends of mine from elementary, middle school, and high school.. how cool is that? I don't think anyone else has that sort of a connection with my friends.)
We had to stand in line for a good 20 or so minutes (and I found out that the head honcho of the Japanese association is an usher, and he can get people in to special events.. like Dave Chappelle coming next month!).. and we finally got in and sat there for like an hour, bored. (We got there an hour early.. and I thought that the purpose of that was to get good seats, but apparently, Tammy and her friends were not concerned about seating in the least.) o_O;
The Dalai Lama is so much funnier than you'd expect. Basically, he talked about being compassionate and loving instead of feeling hatred and angry all the time and how to be globally responsible. (take care of humanity) Eh, it got boring sometimes, and I think I dosed off once or twice (for like 1 or 2 minutes). It was especially bad when I couldn't hear what he was saying due to his heavy accent. It was much better when the translator guy spoke. Eh, in the end, I did learn some stuff from it (like not be so ego-centric and use words like "I" and "me" so much).. and yeah, he's pretty funny. "The Americans are like la la la in their speech... but the British won't even laugh when I tell a joke!" The last question that he got was "What's your favorite type of music?" And he answered that he's not too into music and that if anything, it (referring to the techno that kept him from sleeping in Belgium once) is annoying... like a mosquito. lol. (He was talking about how Buddhists don't kill things.. but mosquitoes get really irritating sometimes.) Some guy asked what he would tell the government to do as far as Iraq, and he was like, "This is beyond my wisdom." lol. He's so awesome. (And it was his first time in Austin!)
Ooh! As I was getting on the FA bus today, I saw this really pretty Asian girl! (She looked like.. really innocent and fragile.. looked kinda like Zhang Ziyi, if you know who she is.) Anyway, I got jealous for a minute.... and then I realized that I didn't even know this girl! .. so I got over it. :)
Came back and ate at Kinsolving (where they had this fountain of chocolate... OMG sooooo tasty). There, I re-met this girl Pavithra who was sitting to my left.. she would've been my roommate had they not moved me to Whitis! (She's really cool, too.. a double E major in Honors.) She was talking to her friend Donna, so I kinda got to know her too. Later, Sunny saw me and kinda invited him to sit with us. Eh, I heard some people to the right of me talking about Sugarland, so I asked the girl next to me if she was from there. She was, and she quickly added, "..and no, I don't go to Clements!" lol.. thought that was kinda amusing. The guy in front of her was from Plano, so I asked him if he knew Matthew (Vera). And the first thing he said was, "Yeah, I've heard of him. Do you like him?" O_O;; WTF?! Bahhh. And then later, "I heard that he's gay.. but I don't really know him." lol.
Bah.. I missed the Ravi Shankar concert 'cause.. I didn't know when/where it was. :( Apparently it was at 8 at the Paramount Theatre.. gahhh.. I so could've made that! >.<; Ahhhh.... damn Ambler for not giving us enough info yesterday. Oh well, hopefully I can make it to the Alien Ant Farm concert tomorrow at 9. (I just found out about it online! Aren't I a resourceful little monkey? :P) Eh, it's only 20 bucks. :\ And I figure that I can let myself go to this 'cause all I have the next day is math, and no homework will be due.. therefore no guilt for ditching my academics. :P
"You are one of my strongest candidates for the Academic chair position" is one very sweet sentence. :D (now I still have to decide if I'd rather be Academic Chair instead of Freshman SEC Rep.. boo. Decisions, decisions. Where are my Asian parents when I need them to make decisions for me?) "I'm telling you about this now because I'd hate to see someone as interested in SWE as you are not be able to take on a leadership role this year!" Awwww..! I feel the <3..!
I <3 the debit card that my parents got for me! (Yeah, I'm surprised that my Asian parents provided me with anything, too.) Ah.. well, it's actually for food and other necessities, but I'm good on food. (Hey, I know how to be frugal aka eat at Kinsolving dining hall/the snacks that Mary's aunt bought for us.)
Oh, and for the record, anyone who told me that OSU is Oklahoma.. you're wrong. OSU is Ohio State.. OU is Oklahoma. kthx.
I still can't believe that you read these entries, Meena. They're super long!
