Today was "great!" (Day 3/4 until UT starts)
Well, it started off with a rather rushy trip to the International Office to hear some orientation thing (what you can and can't do in the U.S.). Then I finished unpacking everything as my roommate went to go take her writing placement exam.
She comes back and calls her friend so that we can all go buy our books. Okay, that was not fun. Not only did I have to buy a new book, but my arms were soooo tired by the time we came back. (They were superheavy books!) Arg, so then I'm tired, broke, and I don't feel like doing anything.
I rest for a while, and I still feel so distressed over having to spend almost $300 on just 2 freaking classes. So I decide to knock on my peer mentor(Josh)'s door and talk to him a little 'cause he's in double E as well, and he's gone through the same distress. We talk for a while, but then we see that James's roomie George has come back, and so we walk over to talk to him a little. And this is where I learn that Kinsolving Dining Hall pwns all.
So then I decide that I want to try it out since I'm hungry, and walking all the way to Jester just isn't feasible on a daily basis, so I go to Kinsolving. Wow. Sooo much food, all buffet, and it's only a freaking $3.30! I meet this girl named Anita there.. and she told me about some UT welcome events that were happening. (She's a bio major.)
I make run make some errands to the financial aid office, but they're closed, and I try to check out a book at the library, but they don't have it. -_-; Lame. Arg, so then I walk over to Jester to max out the rest of my UT Orientation card and grab some food. And there, I see my really awesome friend Nguyet Nguyen! And aww.. she's just so cute and friendly. :D
As I'm walking out, I see all these booths set up, where people are selling really large posters. (12" x 16") And so I take a look.
Haha. Big mistake. I think I spent about 2 hours there, searching, admiring, contemplating. And finally, I buy stickers that say, "Phat Ass", "Much Luv", and "My Other Ride Is Your MOM". (lol, I really like the last one) Oh yeah, and I saw a poster for the Periodic Table of SEX, which had 2-letter abbreviations for various sexual positions, along with drawings and explanations. lol.. it was the most awesome/WTF thing I've seen in a lonnng time. Oh yeah, and they also had a Procratinator's Creed, which talks about the way people procrastinate. "I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possibility for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations." and "I will never put off until tomorrow, what I can forget about forever."
Eh, so I came back really late (I took the shuttle 'cause walking across campus at 9 is pretty dangerous.. and on the shuttle, I met this girl Charlotte), and I got online. Ooh, my roommate finally got the T.V. set up, so now we have cable T.V. Yay!
Um.. James comes over as I'm calling my mom about financial aid stuff, and lol.. makes a bunch of funny background noises and such.. but he leaves before I finish calling. And after that, it's pretty much been AIM and stealing mp3s from shinkirou, reading a few megatokyo strips, and playing this Shooting Katamari game. Ooh! I got added 3 times on Facebook today.. lol.. that made me pretty happy. And the AIM conversations were all either pretty decent or really good.. so that was great. Yup, I felt very loved and special. :D
